My reasons to study Physics: Prakash Mishra
I belong to a small town Banda located near Chitrakoot in U.P. After completing school, I wanted to pursue higher studies. As I was a science students, it had to be either of the three subjects. Since I was weak in Chemistry, Physics was the option. Physics was also my first crush in school
Admission to the university
So, to pursue a degree in Physics, I filled up the application form of the University of Allahabad. After learning the basic concepts and tactics, I cracked the entrance of the university in order to pursue BSc in Physics. After completing graduation, I wanted to go for post-graduation from the same university. So, I appeared for the entrance test for post graduate programmes offered at Allahabad University.
Then came the time for counselling and I got admission in University of Allahabad, which was once known as the ‘Oxford of the East’. Admissions at Allahabad University are purely based on marks obtained in the entrance test. So, there is 100% transparency in admission process.
Learnings in the university
First I would like to talk about my graduation. The subjects in my graduation were Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Applications. According to the university’s pattern, one has to drop a subject in the final year of graduation, so I dropped Mathematics and completed my graduation in 2017.
Now, in post-graduation, my subject is Physics and I am still learning it, as I am in the 3rd semester of MSc. I have taken Electronics as my specialization. In Physics, Electronics is my favourite and it has a wide scope nowadays and will have it in future too.
Career decision
In 10+2, I opted for science stream because I loved science. To be honest, in the name of science, I only love Physics. So in my graduation and post-graduation, I studied Physics as my main subject.
Exam Tips
First read your concepts carefully. If you are confused in some topics and you have less time for preparation, then leave those topics. At the exam time, only revise those topics which you have learnt completely. In the exam, first tackle those questions which are easily attemptable.
My learnings and insights
I always want to thank my special guru and a brilliant teacher Dr. Satya Vrat Upadhyay, assistant professor in MAU at that time. Now, he is an assistant commissioner in commercial tax department. He has been wonderful throughout my graduation. He has a high command in Physics. Under his guidance, I completed my graduation and learnt basic Physics.
My college life was excellent with some good friends and helpful teachers. I always wanted to become a teacher, that’s why I chose to do graduation and post-graduation. I think my biggest mistake was to underestimate Physics during my early education, but later, I realised there is nothing better than Physics for me and the rest is history.
In everybody’s life, college education plays an important role, so did it do in mine. I learnt the basic gestures and language proficiency in my college life and things like how to tackle tough situations.
I want to say that every human being is born with some unique talent. Someone is good in arts and someone is good in science. Someone is good in Maths and someone is good in Physics. So don’t follow anybody else’s career choice, but make your own decision.
NOTE- Physics is not a subject of studying but of learning. I always want to learn Physics because you can observe its applications in your everyday life.
