It is held for the purpose of admitting students to professional programmes like Veterinary Medicine, Farm Science, Engineering Technology, and Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharma). While candidates seeking admission to the Architecture programme through KCET must have passed the JEE Main Paper-2 or NATA exam in order to participate in KCET counselling, candidates seeking admission to the medical, dental, ayurvedic, unani, or homoeopathic programmes must pass the National Eligibility Completion Entrance Test (NEET).

Karnataka Examination Authority releases the KCET 2025 exam pattern in the official notification. Applicants appearing in the exam are advise to refer to the KCET exam pattern 2025 for their preparations. The exam pattern of KCET 2025 comprises various components like duration of exam, marking scheme and others. KCET exam is conducted for three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) for a duration of 80 minutes each. Applicants will be awarded with one mark for every correct answers while there is no negative marking for incorrect answers in KCET exam. Applicants from Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga also have to appear for the KCET Kannada language exam which is conducted for a duration of 60 minutes.
KCET UGCET counseling is generally conducted in three grounds. KEA will first release the KCET mock seat allotment result after the conclusion of the choice-filling process. The first two grounds of KCET 2024 counseling will be conducted for birth general merit and Hyderabad Karnataka region candidates. However round 3 or round 2 extended will be conducted as per the availability of seats. Candidates have to complete the KCET counseling registration as per the schedule. Only successfully registered candidates will be allowed to participate in the KCET 2025 extended round counseling.
