Honestly, Thapar is a good private engineering college, but it does come at a cost.

For B.Tech, the total expense for 4 years (including tuition + hostel) usually goes around ₹28–35 lakhs, depending on your branch and accommodation. It's on the higher side compared to many colleges, so budgeting is important.

As for faculty, most professors are qualified (many with PhDs), and academics are taken seriously. Teaching quality is generally considered good, especially in core branches like CSE, ECE, and Mechanical. Like any big university, experiences can vary by department and individual professor.

If fees aren't a major constraint and you get a good branch, Thapar is considered a solid option.

 For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.

The major concerns about the PAU admissions is the seat intake and the fee. The university has recently increased the seat intake for many courses but still the competition for the available seats is too high. The other concerns include fee. GNDU offers admission as per notification issued by Punjab Government. The University offers admission to its UG and PG courses on the basis of both merit and entrance-based. Admission to most of the courses is based on candidates performance in the Hence, the university does not offer direct admission.
