Honestly, Thapar is a good private engineering college, but it does come at a cost.

For B.Tech, the total expense for 4 years (including tuition + hostel) usually goes around ₹28–35 lakhs, depending on your branch and accommodation. It's on the higher side compared to many colleges, so budgeting is important.

As for faculty, most professors are qualified (many with PhDs), and academics are taken seriously. Teaching quality is generally considered good, especially in core branches like CSE, ECE, and Mechanical. Like any big university, experiences can vary by department and individual professor.

If fees aren't a major constraint and you get a good branch, Thapar is considered a solid option.

 For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.

Yes, IIT Ropar is worth the hype as it is ranked 148 by the QS Ranking 2025 under the Asian University Rankings - Southern Asia category and 521-540 by the QS Ranking 2025 under the Asian University Rankings category. IIT Ropar is also ranked 48th by NIRF 2024 under the Overall category, 22nd by NIRF 2024 under the Engineering category,  and 45th by NIRF 2024 under the Research Institutions category. Also, the college's placements are also good. 

The major concerns about the PAU admissions is the seat intake and the fee. The university has recently increased the seat intake for many courses but still the competition for the available seats is too high. The other concerns include fee. National Testing Agency re-commenced CUET 2026 registration on February 23, 2026. Soon after the release of the CUET notification, candidates can check the important dates about CUET 2026. The last date for CUET 2026 registration was February 26, 2026 (11.50 PM).

Candidates were required to fill the CUET application form within the given time frame, failing which no request for extension of the CUET registration last date will be entertained. NTA does not provide the window for late fee payment. CUET 2026 application process is in online mode. No physical copies of the CUET application form must be sent to the authorities.
