In 2013, the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Guwahati was founded.It was rated 112 for BTech in the NIRF 2022. It was rated 723rd in India and 11019th in the world in 2023.The Indian parliament designated IIIT Guwahati as a "Institute of National Importance" in July 2017.The only IIIT in PPP mode to rank in the top 200 in this category.

IIIT Guwahati was founded as a public-private cooperation in 2013. It has a placement rating of 8.1/10. According to various evaluations, placements at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (IIIT Guwahati) are good. The average package in 2023 was INR 15.5 LPA, with the maximum package being INR 120 LPA. The overall placement rate was 89.19%.

An applying candidate must have completed his/her Bachelors degree minimum of three years with at least 50% of Mark's  (45% Mark's for the candidates of SC/ST categories). Also the candidates needs to appear for  any national level entrance examination such as XAT/CAT/MAT/CMAT or KUEST.
