IIT Guwahati MDes Eligibility & Highlight 2025
IIT Guwahati MDes is a regular programme at the Department of Design(DoD). Along with the MDes regular course, it is also offered in Electronic Product Design specialisation. The focus of the programme is on the study, invention, and creative use of technologies to create effective, usable, and enjoyable experiences in the field of Design. The duration of the programme is two years, and the mode of education is full-time.
Admission to MDes is based on the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) conducted by IITs as a part of their central admission procedure. IIT Guwahati shortlists students based on CEED score and invites them for the Design Aptitude Test (conducted at DoD, IITG) followed by an interview and portfolio round.
IIT Guwahati MDes Admission 2025: Fee, Seats, Eligibility & Selection
Admission to the Master of Design (MDes) programme at IIT Guwahati is entrance exam-based. The institute follows a three-tier selection process for MDes. Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for an Online Design Exercise and Portfolio Evaluation. IIT Guwahati MDes course admission is a multi-stage process. Candidates have to fill out the IIT Guwahati application form and pay the application fee online to begin the admission process. The application fee for PG courses is INR 500. The IIT Guwahati admission process includes the application process, selection round, and counselling for the MDes course.
Candidates seeking admission to the MDes programme must apply for CEED by submitting an application form online. To apply for CEED, follow the short guide below:

- Click on the 'Registration Portal' button and then on 'Register'.

- Age limit - The candidate needs to be born on or after October 1, 1999. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, there is a relaxation of five years.
- UCEED 2025 qualification - The candidate must have qualified in the UCEED 2025 entrance exam and must have been allocated a merit rank.
- Qualifying examination - The candidate must have passed all the subjects in the qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) in 2023 or should be appearing in the qualifying exam for the first time in 2025.

Yes, candidates can withdraw their admission in MBA from IIT Guwahati. If candidates withdraw admission by 20 July 2026, a sum of INR 1,000 shall be deducted from the fee deposited.
