IIT Guwahati MDes Eligibility & Highlight 2025
IIT Guwahati MDes is a regular programme at the Department of Design(DoD). Along with the MDes regular course, it is also offered in Electronic Product Design specialisation. The focus of the programme is on the study, invention, and creative use of technologies to create effective, usable, and enjoyable experiences in the field of Design. The duration of the programme is two years, and the mode of education is full-time.
Admission to MDes is based on the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) conducted by IITs as a part of their central admission procedure. IIT Guwahati shortlists students based on CEED score and invites them for the Design Aptitude Test (conducted at DoD, IITG) followed by an interview and portfolio round.

Admission to the Master of Design (MDes) programme at IIT Guwahati is entrance exam-based. The institute follows a three-tier selection process for MDes. IIT Guwahati MDes Application Process 2026
IIT Guwahati MDes course admission is a multi-stage process. Candidates have to fill out the IIT Guwahati application form and pay the application fee online to begin the admission process. The application fee for PG courses is INR 500. The IIT Guwahati admission process includes the application process, selection round, and counselling for the MDes course.
Candidates seeking admission to the MDes programme must apply for CEED by submitting an application form online. To apply for CEED, follow the short guide below:
- Open the CEED portal.
- Click on the 'Registration Portal' button and then on 'Register'.
- Enter an active email ID and click on the 'Register' button.
- Click on the activation URL sent on the email ID.
- Fill in all the details in the CEED registration form and click on the 'Register' button.
- Select the name of the qualifying exam and the year of passing.
- Click on the mobile verification link and enter the received OTP.
- Log in to your registered account and fill out the CEED application form.
- Upload all the prescribed documents in the acceptable format.
- Pay the CEED application fee in online mode and submit the form.
