The University of Madras, Tamil Nadu, is one of the oldest and most prestigious state universities. It offers admission in Bachelor's, master's, and doctorate courses. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. The odd semesters consist of the period from June to November of each year, and the even semesters are from December to April of each year. Each semester usually have minimum 90 working days. At the University, the class timings are usually based on the discretion of the respective departments and also on the type of course that one is pursuing, whether it is the Master's programme, the M.Phil or the Ph.D. According to the official order by the registrar of the university, the working hours are from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m.

Asan Institute of Management offers full-time MBA and MCA programs for the duration of two-year and three-year respectively.
Admission to MBA and MCA programs is completely entrance-based.
Candidates seeking admission to MBA course must have completed graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
The admission will be offered to CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT or TANCET qualified candidates.
