Engineering Entrance Exam

It depends upon the counselling of university. There are around 1240 seats in the B. Tech/BE courses at Thapar University. To be considered for Thapar University B.Tech Admission 2017 candidates will also have to meet the eligibility criteria set by the admissions committee, which will specify the needed academic qualification, pass percentage that will be acceptable, nationality, age and lastly the JEE Main scores obtained in 2017.

You may check the cut-off. Last year, you needed more than 85 for a seat in IISER.

Based on your rank, NITs and IIITs are far beyond your horizon. So, it is better you apply in JIIT, Noida, you will get good branches there.

You can apply for TNEA 2017 (single window counselling under Anna university) through www.annauniv.edu . And click TNEA 2017.
Then apply online by creating a profile for yourself in "online application".
Download the form in which your application number will be printed. Then send the form with all the enclosures mentioned (only which are applicable to you) and send to the address mentioned in the form.
Or if you are in Chennai, it is better to submit the form offline at the Guindy campus of Anna University (main campus).

Yes SSN College of Engineering is under the single window counselling under Anna University (TNEA 2017 counselling)
There is a management quota but if you go for management quota, then you need to apply separately and you have to clear an entrance exam.
This is only if you don't get SSN under Anna University.

Do your course subjects really well. Watch NPTEL videos. Just try to understand your core subjects deeply. If books are not sufficient then go for video lectures. And when you are done with this, go for practice papers for GATE to get idea. Give yourself tests to get into time management thing.
