No, admission to IIT Guwahati courses is entrance-based, except for certificate course. There is no provision for direct admission. The below table mentions course-wise accepted entrance exams:

Comparing the colleges, for a B.Tech degree, AIMST University is relatively better. IIT Guwahati is one of India's top engineering institutions; it does well across various national rankings, including the NIRF rankings. Also, its curriculum is relatively strong and provides good faculty and placement opportunities, as average salaries for graduates with B.Tech in IIT Guwahati are approximated to be INR 22.5 LPA. There are a total of 170 seats for MSc courses at IIT Guwahati. This seat allotment varies for each of the course specialisations. IIT Guwahati BTech admissions dates for the academic year 2025 have not been released yet. However, the BTech admissions for the academic year 2025-26 are expected to begin soon at IIT Guwahati. The process starts with the registrations for the JEE Main entrance exam. This exam is conducted in two phases. The entire examination process for JEE Main Session 1 has been concluded. Additionally, the registrations are ongoing for JEE Main Session 2 exam. After the commencement of JEE Main and the declaration of results, candidates have to register for the JEE Advanced exam, which will begin in the mid-month of April.
