As per the latest notification from the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), there will be total of 6 rounds for JEE counseling in 2023 through which seat allocation will be done at various NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs:

  1. Round :-  This will be the first round of counseling based on JEE Main ranks.

2.  Round : - This is the second round of seat allocation. Students can change choices submitted earlier.

3. Round 3- : Students who couldn't get a seat allotted in first two rounds are eligible for this third round.

4. Round 4:-  Another chance given to students to obtain seat allocation if they couldn't earlier. 

5. Round 5:-  One more mop-up round conducted after round 4 before final vacant seat filling.

6. Round 6: - The sixth and final round of counseling to allot any last vacant seats left unfilled in the participating institutes. 

Additionally, two preparatory mock rounds will be conducted before the counseling starts for students to get familiar with the web portal and process.

So in 2023, candidates will have six rounds spanning over 3-4 months time from June to September to seek JEE counseling and admission confirmation.
