The principal aim of lateral entry is to save on one year before getting graduation degree. But B.Tech with evening classes does not fit into this since it takes more time in any case than normal B.Tech. However, I would advise you to approach your intended college administration for clarification.

Diploma is a stepping stone for graduation. Hence, surely, you can change branch at the time of lateral entry. But unfortunately, every state has its own rules and hence which branches you can select is entirely dependent on this. Hence you will have to seek an answer to this on the webpage of DTE of Tech. Edu of your state.

Any diploma that you pursue, it being a technical diploma after completing your 12th can allow some scope of entry in the B.Tech course or other short-term engineering courses such as ITI. However, BCA degree programs have strict eligibility criteria.
The basic eligibility for the course is 12th with 45% pass marks and the admissions depend on either the merit list of the college or the entrance exam results for admission of students.
