There are many calculations required to be done before each flight. The tabulation of the correct Aircraft weight depending on it's loading. It should satisfy the runway length, day's temperature, airport pressure and maximum allowable takeoff weight for the aircraft. The computers in the aircraft are equipped to do all these calculations but the pilots are taught all these calculations manually. So that in case of any emergency manual calculations can be done. I hope you understand that maths is required for all such calculations.
