There are many types of scholarships available for students at NIC Silchar for students not only pursuing M.Sc but other courses also. Although specific scholarships are provided to SC students. Scholarships are provided to meritorious students by Swami Dayanand Charitable Educational Foundation for students of all categories. Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program provide scholarships to students with disabilities. So, specific OBC category scholarships are not available, you can apply for the general scholarships.

As NIT Silchar admission is entrance-based. Admission to its flagship programme i.e. BTech is based on JEE Main scores of the candidates. Further, aspirants are allotted seats via JoSAA Counselling. For admission to MTech and MBA programmes, candidates must have a valid score in GATE and MAT/ GMAT/ CAT/ CMAT, respectively. The selection for MSc programme is based on IIT JAM scores of the candidates.

Students seeking admission to the programme are required to clear the national-level entrance tests such as JEE Main and subsequently participate in DASA UG counselling for seat allotment. Students who have cleared Class 12 or its equivalent from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate of 75% can apply for BTech at NIT Silchar.
