The online/distance degrees offered by the Centre for Distance and Online Education at Annamalai University are valid. Previously, the University Grants Commission (UGC) did not approve its courses starting from 2015. However, Annamalai University DDE  received relief from the Madras High Court in an order dated 21.01.2023. Subsequently, following a reassessment by the UGC, Annamalai DDE achieved a qualifying score of 3.38, which led to extending the validity of its programmes until 2027.

Annamalai University Distance Education offers admission to candidates based on their merit. Candidates can get a seat directly through Spot Admission. Aspirants have to submit the filled-in application form along with the documents to the nearest Learners Support Centre or LSC in-person to get direct admission. All Spot Admissions are subject to confirmation or cancellation (if found ineligible) by the Director, CD&OE.

To know which is a better choice, students must weigh both options based on important factors such as fees and median package. As per official sources, the fees to pursue ME at Annamalai University range from INR 50,000 to INR 1.1 lakh. The fee to pursue ME at BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology is 1.6 lakh. In terms of fees, Annamalai University is a better choice. 

Moreover, as per placement data available on Shiksha, median packages offered to ME students at Annamalai University and BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology are INR 5.13 LPA and INR 4.25 LPA. In terms of package, ME from Annamalai University is a better choice.
