Ashoka University Inks MoU With University Of Cambridge
December 20, 2021: The University of Cambridge and Ashoka University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in recognition of their shared goal in establishing and strengthening academic ties.
Staff and student exchange, as well as collaborative research, are all opportunities for partnership.
Professor Malabika Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor of Ashoka University, stated in a statement announcing the MOU with Cambridge, "this is the start of an exciting journey, and we look forward to many collaborative initiatives that will be made."
"We in Cambridge are thrilled to formalise our relationship with Ashoka through this MoU," said Professor Stephen Toope, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. We anticipate a constructive exchange of people, ideas, and research on a wide range of topics that now affect the world."
Ashoka University Ranks Among Top Five Private Universities In India In QS Asia University Rankings 2022
November 8, 2021: In the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Asia University Rankings 2022, Ashoka University was ranked among the top five private universities in India. On the 'International Faculty' indication, it has likewise ranked first among all Indian universities. The QS Asia University Rankings are published annually and showcase the best universities in Asia. QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) is a global higher education think tank and the creator of the most widely used university rankings portfolio in the world.

Academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, citations per paper and papers per faculty, staff with a PhD, proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students, proportion of inbound exchange students and proportion of outbound exchange students are some of the indicators that QS Asia University Rankings evaluates. The 687 highlighted colleges on the Asia list are spread over 18 countries in Asia, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, Mainland China, and Vietnam.
With 118 universities, India is ranked second in terms of the number of universities featured on the table. Japan (108) and South Korea are the next two countries on the list (88). Mainland is the most popular location. China has 126 universities that are ranked.
Ashoka University’s Young India Fellowship Invites Applications For Class Of 2023
October 1, 2021: Admissions to the twelfth cohort of Ashoka University's flagship programme, the Young India Fellowship (YIF), will begin on October 1, 2021. YIF is a one-year residential multidisciplinary postgraduate diploma in liberal studies that prepares young people for the twenty-first century by providing them with a variety of perspectives and skills.
The curriculum began in 2011 and is divided into eight terms, each lasting around six weeks. Fellows take roughly 20 courses in various fields of study, with many of them being multidisciplinary. Leadership, group dynamics, communication, public policy, artificial intelligence, art appreciation, gender and media studies, business, international relations literature, and political science are among the topics covered in the curriculum. The Critical Writing Programme and an Experiential Learning Module are two other programme components, which are reinforced by a variety of guest lectures, workshops, and peer learning sessions held throughout the year.
Candidates must have a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline (maybe a final-year student at the time of application) and be under the age of 28 on August 1, 2022 to be considered. Professionals in the workforce, entrepreneurs, postgraduates, and gap year students are all welcome to apply.
Every year, about 200 young people from India and throughout the world embark on a life-changing trip at the YIF. The current 11th cohort includes Fellows from 28 Indian states and UTs, representing over 125 undergraduate institutions. The average age of the cohort is roughly 23 years, and 65 per cent of the cohort is female.
Everyone interested must fill out an online application (free of cost). Shortlisted candidates will take an online writing test and a personal interview once their applications have been evaluated holistically. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the entire admissions process will be performed online to maintain social distancing and safety while also fostering better accessibility and convenience for all candidates. The first application round will be accessible until December 15, 2021.
Ashoka University offers need-based financial support to admitted students. Fee exemptions of up to 100% of the total fee, including living and meals, are available as need-based financial aid. This is to ensure that people from all walks of life have access to education. Financial help is used by 52 percent of the YIF Class of 2022.
September 29, 2021: Ashoka University's Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy (CSIP) has issued a call for applications for its Research Fellowship, which aims to increase awareness of philanthropy in India.
This Research Fellowship will be conducted entirely digitally, with all primary research taking place on a computer, tablet, or phone. Different types of philanthropy in India - philanthropy fund movements, individual giving, impact of Covid-19 on the philanthropy ecosystem in India, diversification of philanthropy away of conventional sectors, and so on are some of the themes that the fellowship will focus on.
Individuals who are based in India full-time and have several years of relevant professional research experience are eligible for the nine-month Fellowship. In January 2022, the Fellowship will begin. Ten fellows will be chosen, and they will be required to conduct primary research, engage in monthly calls, and attend online workshops to improve their research, data collection methods, analysis, and writing skills.
“While philanthropy in India is rapidly gaining steam, there is still very little study in this space. The CSIP Research Fellowship is designed to improve our collective understanding of philanthropy in India, including how it is changing and what opportunities and problems it confronts. CSIP hopes to strengthen the field of philanthropy research by awarding this Fellowship to researchers who want to widen their horizons.” remarked Ingrid Srinath, CSIP Director, at the introduction of the Fellowship.
Individual researchers and individuals working with small grassroots nonprofit organisations in India who can devote half of their time to the study project are both being sought by CSIP. A fellowship for the second type of fellow may be shared by two or three people in a small organisation.
Fellows will be chosen based on the quality of their research proposal, prior research experience, commitment to the fellowship, and capacity to produce the necessary results. Women, LGBTQIA+, Dalit, Adivasi, disabled people, and members of other minority and marginalized groups are especially urged to apply.
The Fellows will be paid Rs 9,00,000 in total, which includes a stipend and research expenses. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2021.
Ashoka University Launches The Centre For The Creative And The Critical
September 24, 2021: The Centre for the Creative and Critical, a new centre at Ashoka University, was announced today. This Center will serve as a forum for discussing and debating issues related to creative practice and critical thinking.
The Centre's mission is to bring together novelists, poets, translators, artists, scholars, filmmakers, journalists, and publishers from all over the world to promote intercultural and cross-disciplinary dialogues concerning creative practice. Its goal is to become a source for interventions in current debates on a variety of topics, as well as to build a new lexicon for these debates. It will work in collaboration with other institutions all across the world.
“I am thrilled to announce the commencement of the Centre for the Creative and the Critical at Ashoka University,” Amit Chaudhuri, Professor of Creative Writing and Director, The Centre for the Creative and the Critical, Ashoka University, stated at the opening. The Centre is intended to provide a forum for thinking about creative practise and critical notions in ways that are no longer addressed by institutional and academic literature, as well as the language used by publishers, festivals, and the media. To put it another way, it stems from a sincere desire to change the way literature and creativity are debated in academia and the public domain.
The Centre will host lectures, symposia, and workshops by creative practitioners and thinkers to allow them to share their perspectives and thought processes with students, peers, and the general public. Building on existing partnerships for the symposia with TORCH and St Hugh's College, Oxford, the Columbia Institute of Ideas and Imagination, Paris, and the India International Centre, Delhi, international collaborative networks will be formed in North America, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and China.
Ashoka University Students Selected For Prestigious UN Millennium Fellowship
September 15, 2021: The prestigious UN Millennium Fellowship, a joint collaboration between United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN), a Boston-based global non-profit, has selected twenty-five students from Ashoka University, India's leading Liberal Arts and Sciences University, for the class of 2021.
The initiative aims to develop future leaders on university campuses around the world. It's a semester-long leadership development programme aimed at bringing together, challenging, and celebrating student leaders who are working for UN ideals.
Over 25,000 students applied from 2,200+ campuses in 153 countries for the class of 2021. Only 136 campuses (about 6%) were chosen to host the Fellows for the Class of 2021, making it one of the most difficult fellowships.
Working on enabling quality education, the need for water conservation, assisting women and girls in rural areas to start businesses, conducting grassroots elections to make Indian politics more accessible to younger people, and building a network of people to stay connected through shared empathy and vulnerability are just a few of the projects that the current cohort will be working on.
Students think they have a responsibility to leave a legacy and set an example for future cohorts in order to create a culture of empathic problem-solving. Following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the students see the heightened importance of working toward the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals by both developed and poor countries. The students see the fellowship as an opportunity to pursue their passions while also contributing to the country's development and affecting social change.
Ashoka University Lays Foundation Stone For New 27- Acre Campus
September 8, 2021: The foundation stone for a new 27-acre campus of Ashoka University, India's leading liberal arts and sciences institution, was set today in Sonipat. The new complex, which will be adjacent to the existing campus, will include six academic buildings, ten residential structures, utilities and service facilities, and a sports field. The new campus will bring the overall number of students on the Ashoka campus to 6000 once it is completed. By 2027, the new campus should be completely functioning.
The site will reflect Ashoka's growing emphasis on science and research. Science courses at the university, which have also been at the forefront of Covid-19 research, are already in high demand. As the student population grows, established departments will see organic development, and new majors and minors will be introduced over time.
The new campus' 1.80 million square feet will be merged with the present building and will maintain Ashoka University's existing campus design philosophy and distinctive brick and Jaali façade. In order to achieve net-zero carbon status, the new campus will include solar roofing, sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, and rainfall harvesting, among other features.
Perkins Eastman & Edifice are the project's architects. Ashoka University now occupies a total of 25 acres. It provides Undergraduate, Graduate, and PhD programs, as well as Young India Fellowships.
Ashoka University to Host National Conference on Scope of K-12 Education
June 2, 2020: Ashoka University is hosting a two-day national conference on June 5-6 to discuss the scope of K-12 education. Discussions will be conducted on problems raised by the current state and approaches identified to boost the K12 spectrum in India. To make this conference meaningful, Ashoka University has invited prominent dignitaries from various races fo life with both industry and academia experience. It includes Nandan Nilekani, Chairman-Infosys and Founder-EkStep Foundation; Anita Karwal, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy; and Deepak Parekh, Chairman of HDFC. The conference will be held over Zoom and will host more than 1,300 schools, 1,100 school officials and more than 10,000 attendees in over 100 cities.
Post Covid-19, Indian education sector will be introduced to many new problems and opportunities.
The conference will be attended by many stakeholders in the world of education – school administrators, national experts, edtech associations, politicians and psychologists – who will discuss two main issues: how technologies can be applied effectively to resolve the crisis and how school leaders have to respond to the various obstacles it raises.
The conference will start at 4 pm and end at 7:15 pm on June 5 and start at 9:30 am and end at 5:20 pm on June 6.

Placements: Between 70 and 85 percent of students get placed each year. Although college placement is quite active, it doesn't change much. The average package is between 13 and 24 LPA. Top hiring firms include Korn Ferry, AON, and Adecco India, among others. Develops and interns are among the programs available. A lot of students receive internships.
Placements: In the B.Sc. Computer Science course, 30-50% of the students get on-campus placements at Ashoka University. 3-6 LPA is the average package offered in our course. Top recruiters at our college were Infosys, HCL Solutions, TCS, Miraj Solutions, etc. Top roles offered in our course were Software Developers, Web Developers, PHP Developers, etc.
Placements: In this college, 20-30% of the students get placements in our course. The average package offered at this college was 3-4 LPA. Students were getting proper placements and internship opportunities at this college. Most of the students pursue a Master's degree.
Placements: Depending on 2023 placements, 80–90% of students got placed. The highest package offered to the students will be up to 35 lacs per annum and the average package will be up to 10 lacs per annum. The top recruiting companies are Deloitte, Hindustan Unilever Limited, EY, Genpact and so on.
Placements: Every year, 60–70% of students get on-campus placements. College placement is not highly developed but it is very active. The average package for our course is 3–4 LPA. The top recruiting companies are TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS, etc. The roles offered are those of interns and developers. Many students get internship offers.
Placements: Placements provided in our college are good. Career development office takes care of placements and trains students for the placements and internships. Many students get placed, mostly YIF, MS, and 4th-year students have the preference. Many companies visit our campus for students of computer science, and economics but students of other departments like sociology and political science don't find many companies for placements. The salary package offered is more than 6 LPA.
