Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) was established in 2005 and is a public state university located in Bhilai. The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Currently, there are 44 Engineering Colleges, 1 Architecture institution, 40 Polytechnics and 11 Pharmacy colleges affiliated with the university. Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University has been conferred with the Emerging Technological University of the Year Award in the World Management Congress, Higher Education and Development Summit for adopting different reformative measures.

Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University provides state-of-the-art infrastructure to the students. Starting from the library to learning rooms, CSVTU comprises all the basic as well as modern amenities. Some of these facilities provided by Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University include labs, seminar rooms, hostels, mess, cafeteria, sports complex, healthcare center, ATM, etc.

CSVTU Bhilai has a training and a placement cell. Under the training and placement cell, students are well prepared to face the real world after the completion of the selected course from this university. There are mock interviews arranged by the university.  CSVTU Bhilai students develop the needed skills to work in top companies throughout the degree course. 

Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University last year introduced four new programmes at the UG level and the Diploma level. These new courses include BTech (Hons) in CSE-Data Science, BTech (Hons) in CSE-AI along with Diploma programmes in two specialisations, namely Mining Engineering and Fire Safety and Industrial Safety.
