It can fluctuate from year to year but, in general the Institute of Home Economics (IHE), University of Delhi (DU) is preferred and there is always a great deal of rivalry to get in. Since it is a women's college then the number of applicants may be few compared to co-educational institutions. IHE gives admission to the courses where University of Delhi holds the Common Entrance Test (CET) for different under graduate programmes they offer. There are courses, such as B.Sc. Home Science, B.Sc. Nutrition & Food, B.Com. (Hons.), and B.A. (Hons.) Family & Community Science. The minimum marks required for a candidate for B.Sc. courses are 60% in the entrance examination. For B.Com. (Hons.), the cutoff may be somewhere near 95-97 percent while for B.A. (Hons.) For Family & Community Science, the cutoff can be towards the 90's, 90-92%. Finally, in relation to General Category, admission cut – off marks were 313 for session 2008 which change year by year and so the no, of applicants, difficult level of entrance exam etc., sensible of total seat are also important. The cutoff has previously been between 91 to 97 percentile in the best four subjects for candidates under General category.

It might be difficult to get accepted into the University of Delhi's Institute of Human Behaviour and related Sciences (IHBAS), a renowned school with specialised programs in related sciences, psychology, and mental health. The particular programme you are applying for and the volume of applications determine how challenging admission will be. IHBAS usually administers an entrance exam and then an interview.
