What is BHU CAP UG?
Banaras Hindu University launches a Combined Allotment Program (CAP) UG portal for students seeking admission at BHU through CUET UG. The BHU CAP UG portal is a common platform for admission to all undergraduate programmes across various faculties/colleges at Banaras Hindu University. The university considers only those applications as valid that it receives through BHU’s official online portal, CAP UG. Candidates are allotted seats based on their CUET scores, and college and course preferences. CUET normalised score is calculated as per the formula prescribed by National Testing Agency. The process is as follows:
- In first step, CUET raw scores are calculated for every candidate
- Then NTA calculates the percentile by applying the formula: Number of students with a CUET raw score equal to or less than a score a particular candidate/ Total number of students) x 100
- After converting into percentile, the scores are then normalised based on difficulty level of each session/slot
No, you cannot get admission to IIT BHU through CUET. The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), including IIT BHU offers admission based on JEE scores. However, the Banaras Hindu University offers admission to 23 undergraduate courses through CUET UG scores.

BHU CUET UG Admission Eligibility Criteria
Candidates planning to apply at BHU must ensure to check the Age Limit and CUET 2026 Eligibility Criteria for their target UG programme before selecting the course in the registration form. National Testing Agency does not release CUET UG cutoff. To check the university wise cutoff, candidates must visit the official portal of desired universities and check the cutoff details. Accepting colleges release the CUET cutoff soon after declaration of CUET UG results by NTA.
The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:
- Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
- The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
- The difficulty level of the CUET exam
- Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)
CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:
100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.
Students can access the CUET UG cut off list only after the cut offs are released by the CUET UG participating universities. The following steps should be followed to access the CUET cut off list of universities candidate is desirous to take admission in.
- Visit the official website of the applied and participating institutes
- On the homepage, click on the link to the current academic session CUET Cut Off
- A new login page will open on screen. Enter the credentials and submit
- Now, you can access the CUET UG cut off list when released
The above steps will be applicable only if instittues release the CUET UG cut offs. Otherwise, if the institutes release merit lists carrying their scores, then the minimum score would be considered as the CUET UG cut off. Universities like Delhi University does not released CUET cut off. Candidates will know the college/course allocated on the basis of the preferences filled by the candidate while filling the application form.
After obtaining the CUET results, candidates will be able to apply for CUET counselling for various participating universities. To apply for CUET UG counselling, candidates can follow the process below;

BHU CAP UG 2026: Seat Allocation
Banaras Hindu University provides admission to students to UG courses based on merit scores. These scores are calculated through CUET UG Normalised scores. Candidates who meet the BHU CUET eligibility criteria and will submit all relevant category documents (if applicable) will be allocated seats based on their selected preferences and the university's seat availability.

BHU CAP UG 2026: Offer Acceptance
Candidates who have been allotted seats will have to accept the offer by paying a commitment fee of INR 2500 (INR 500 for SC/ST) online. The fee has to be paid by 6 PM by the next day on which the BHU CUET UG merit list is published; otherwise, the admission will be withdrawn permanently.
Candidates who wish to float or upgrade for higher preferences must not pay the fee to lock the seat.
BHU CAP UG 2026: Provisional Admission Letter and Fee Payment
Once a candidate locks a seat and receives the provisional admission, they have to visit the university the next day by 10 AM for offline counselling. The admission department will provide the candidates who have locked their seats with their admission letter. Candidates are required to collect the letter and review the details for any discrepancies. Once done, candidates must pay the balance course fee at the university to confirm the admission.
