IGNOU MSc programme is offered across four specialisations. While the minimum duration for this course is two years, the maximum duration can go up to four years. IGNOU MSc admission is completely based on merit scores obtained by the students in the UG degree.

Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they've qualified it. Followed by application, application fee payment and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. It is compulsory to carry IGNOU ID-Card when appearing for the exam. However, in case a students forgets to bring the same, he or she can show an identity proof like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, etc. Most of the exam centres accept identity proof in such cases but to avoid any kind of conflict, students must carry their IGNOU ID-Card along with an identity proof and admit card.

IGNOU MSc Curriculum
IGNOU MSc course curriculum includes theory, practical, and internship as important elements. Students can read below some details regarding the elements included in the syllabus:
- Practical: Participation in the practical sessions is compulsory. Each practical course is worth 2 credits and the duration of the practical sessions is seven days i.e. 14 sessions of four hours each. The term-end practical examination is held in the 15th session of the practical spell.
- Internship: Duration of internship for three months in the Dietetic Department of a recognised hospital/ institution, for the award of an MSc (DFSM) degree, is compulsory (except in case of credit transfer cases).
- Additional details: IGNOU allows credit transfer in the MSc (DFSM) programme to in-service dietitians (with a degree in Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition only) who have completed a three-month internship programme from a recognised institution/ university in the last five years.
