B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2023
4.2
I am totally satisfied with our college.
Placements: There is almost a 1% chance of getting placements in our college. In the case of placements, this college lacks behind much. No companies visited here. Companies give first preference to NITs and IITs. In PSUs, there is no chance of getting a job until the qualification of the GATE exam.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is very good. I am impressed with the infrastructure of this college. Every day we get free Wi-Fi in our college. Our college has the largest library. There is an ambulance in case of emergency.
Faculty: In our college, the civil branch is the most valuable and designated. In this branch, faculty members are very good, and every teacher is also very talented and well-qualified. Some of them are GATE qualified. There are also PhD holders in our branch.
Other: I have chosen this course because the civil branch is the most valuable, and I like it.

Civil engineering department of IUST review.
Placements: There is zero placement in campus. You have to struggle on your own to get the placement in any private company, or you have to work even more for getting in government jobs. Further if you want to get in PSUs or for M.Tech in reputed college or IITs or NITs then you to work even hard at own.
Infrastructure: About infrastructure I can say is good. There are also smart rooms available in campus. Besides this there are also normal classes available. Anyway this is new University, so there is ongoing work on buildings for every department in campus. So only I can say is infrastructure is good. Wi-Fi is not available for students. Medical facilities are available. Sports and games are good Library is also very good.
Faculty: Teacher's are not so good as seen in NITs or IITs ar any other good University or college. Hardly there are any Ph.D. scholar available. Teaching quality was poor. Method used mostly were marker and board, sometimes few teacher's were using projector. No, course curriculum was not useful.

The college management is not supportive.
Placements: There is a placement cell in our university. It constantly makes an effort to ensure that every student in our university participates in placement interviews. We get e-mails from the placement cell about internships and jobs. I don't know the actual percentage of students who got placed.
Infrastructure: Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, is located at the base of a mountain surrounded by almond trees, and it is free from noise. So, there is no disturbance. Facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, etc., are adequate to meet the demands of students. Being a hosteler, I can tell that the hostel rooms are in excellent condition, and each room has an attached bathroom and balcony.
Faculty: Teachers in Islamic University of Science and Technology are very skilled, knowledgeable and qualified. Usually, they use role play method to teach, and they are more inclined towards practical work. The student to faculty ratio is 30:1. Students in Islamic University of Science and Technology lack industrial exposure.
Other: The college has good connectivity, and the university is surrounded by mountains. Occasionally, I do visit conference halls where workshop and seminars are conducted. But, the entertainment events are hardly conducted. Each student, after clearing the minimum eligibility criteria, gets the scholarship amount of Rs. 25,000 every year.

Not satisfied because of the poor infrastructure, placements, and industry exposure, etc.
Placements: There are no placements at all in the college, particularly in the civil department. Companies offering jobs don't visit the campus. There was not even a single student from our senior batch who got placed through the university. There is a placement cell, but it is not doing the work assigned to it.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available on the campus to some extent, as there is usually internet blockade in South Kashmir. The classrooms are okay, and medical facilities, sports and library are also okay. There is a new library which is under construction and talking about labs, they are poor. There is no equipment available in the labs, so the laboratory work is poor. Quality of food available in the canteen is tolerable.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and knowledgeable, and their teaching quality is average. Elementary teaching methods are used to teach. The faculty to student ratio in a single class is 1:60 in case all the students are present. We didn't get any industry exposure through our university. We have individually applied for the industrial training we did in the 5th semester, and our university didn't help us in that. I don't think the course curriculum was much useful.
Other: There are no such things like events, fests, convocations, etc. conducted on our campus. Our university provides scholarships to students in need. I must say there are minimal extracurricular activities.

A review of Islamic University of Science and Technology.
Placements: There have been no placement drives as for now, especially in our department, but the college is working on it. Maybe this year, the college will start inviting companies for recruitment of students. Placements would be very helpful for students and give them a headstart in their professional careers.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is okay as of now, but it will surely improve in the coming years as a lot of construction work is going on currently. A lot of facilities including a library, football ground and other things are being built which will raise the bar of infrastructure.
Faculty: Faculty members have always been good, capable and qualified. In fact, they also provide lecturers from outside for GATE coaching. Many a time guest lecturers are also invited for a day or two or the whole course. The curriculum is also up to the standards.

Satisfied with the infrastructure and curriculum, but disappointed with the small playground.
Placements: Placements are not guaranteed in IUST. Few local companies visited the college, but the salaries offered were meagre. The college has a placement cell which is not very functional. If you're planning to seek a government job and appear for GATE, then the curriculum is quite useful, but if you're thinking to get placed in the campus placements, it is not much useful.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is the most developing one you'll find in Kashmir. Labs are functional with all the equipment. There is a separate three-storeyed library. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The playground is very small, and not much emphasis is laid on sports.
Faculty: With the introduction of TEQUIP and GATE tutors, the faculty in IUST are the most reassuring if you're willing to achieve your goal. The course curriculum is up to the standard of government exams such as SSB, PSC and GATE.

Faculty are loving, but the university is seriously lacking in most aspects.
Placements: The placements were scarce, and no noticeable placement took place in the university despite having a placement cell. The placement cell is mostly defunct, and it is not a good idea to expect anything from it. The only work that the placement cell does is printing bonafide certificates and giving notice of occasional employment opportunities.
Infrastructure: The varsity has a good hostel while amenities and infrastructure are pretty decent. However, there is no Wi-Fi connectivity. The infrastructure is basic in the university, but it is developing very fast, and we should expect a very good infrastructure by 2024.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified, especially from technological schools. Many faculty members are from IITs. Teachers take lectures orally, and lab work is not given much importance. The faculty to student ratio is about 1:60. Industry exposure is provided mostly during the internship, and students are on their own then also.
Other: The university students often apply for minority scholarships. Further, other than that, the college provides a few scholarships. Events and fests are scarcely conducted. Connectivity to the college is good.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty, good Placements and good infrastructure.
Placements: A lot of construction companies usually come at the doors of this university as the students that study here have already cleared JEE Mains to get admission into this university. So there are quite high chances that you may get placed at the university.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is quite good. With the construction of new buildings with new design standards there are well-equipped labs, highly maintained classrooms, a well maintained central library, good canteens and medical facilities. Over all the university is good infrastructure wise.
Faculty: Faculty members are more efficient as compared to other reputed private colleges of India. All the faculty members have detailed knowledge about the subject with good teaching quality. They employ projectors whenever required. All necessary industry exposure is provided.
Other: Events are organized, campus has enrolled students if about 10000. Wi-Fi is available and scholarships are provided.

A score of 250 or higher is regarded as a good score and therefore a percentile between 85-95 is enough to get a seat in the NITs or IITs through this exam. Although to be able to secure a place in the NITs or IITs you need to be in the top 15,000 to 20,000 ranks.

The IUST application window opens annually. The university, state or national entrance exams, or previous qualifying exam merit are the means by which admission to the university programs is granted.
