KUHS Highlights

Established in 2010, Kerala University of Health Sciences is located in Thrissur. It offers courses like MD, MS, B.Pharma and many more. KUHS has eight departments that offer about 130 courses across disciplines such as Allied Health Science, Medical, Nursing, Dental and Pharmacy, including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The university extends doctoral degrees like Pharma D and MD. It also offers a two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Anesthesiology. Review of Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation.

Placements: Most students attend their PG by joining as tutors for MBBS students. It is one of the prestigious colleges run by the Sree Gokulam Group. So, job opportunities are comparatively good among other private medical colleges. Good packages are offered.

Infrastructure: All classrooms and the library have Wi-Fi. The library and most of the lecture halls are air-conditioned. There are better lab facilities, and the museum is also well-maintained. There are several hostel blocks, and they are good. The food is typical hostel food, and there is a big canteen. In the hospital, doctors are very caring, and it has a very good patient load. Arts and sports are encouraged. There is a gym, swimming pool, and beauty parlour.

Faculty: The teaching is very good. They conduct exams regularly. Everything is very well-organised. Last year, all first-year students passed. All departments are strict, especially for first-year students. They assign mentors to students who need them. All faculty members have graduated from prestigious government colleges.

Other: I follow my passion, so I chose this course. It has a vast syllabus, so a lot of struggle and sacrifice are required.

Our college is overall good but there are no college fests or any cultural activities.

Placements: As we are dental students, our college doesn't provide campus placement. We have to find jobs ourselves. Some pursue higher studies, and some look for jobs in hospitals and clinics. Dental surgeons and clinicians are the jobs offered.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities are exceptional. Mess and canteen food is also good. We have a vast library and Wi-Fi connection. We have an AC lecture room. Also, our clinic is packed with patients so we get a lot of patient interaction, and this is helpful.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Faculty members here try their best to make students understand what they need to learn. Exams are a bit difficult for all of us and one thing we hate is that we have a 6-month back policy if a student fails in any subject.

Other: I chose this course because I always wanted to become a doctor.

It has bad infrastructure and food. No campus life.

Placements: KUHS ranking has now reduced to about 13 in the private college list. Internship placement is a sure thing at a medical college. If you are looking for patient flow and experience, this is not a great option to choose. Scoring for NEET PG or the next exam will surely be up to personal efforts, as there is no practice or useful trips provided here.

Infrastructure: The old buildings are painted partially every year. The rooms for freshers are the best ones. As you get passed out every year, the quality of the rooms decreases. The rooms in the topmost are painted just once, with the patterns of paint visible.

Faculty: Finding a friendly faculty here is more like a dream. You can count a maximum of 10, maybe. You'll have exams every week. There are no real efforts at teaching. Doubt clearance is a quality to be noticed. You can always find a faculty member to clear your doubts.

Other: The food in here is more like the kind given for free. The paid money is not valuable. The people responsible for food are responsible. Choose this course only if you are interested and not due to the pressure from others, including family. It is not an easy life. You have a struggle to face. A lot. There are no real events happening here, and nothing like campus life. Extracurricular activities are given no importance. If you want to, you can make use of the ground provided.

Placements: Students get postings in nearby medical facilities for clinical experience. Trivandrum Medical College has its own legacy and plays an enormous role in moulding efficient doctors. Our alumni serve all over the world. The college gives prime importance to academics along with research programs, which pave the way for future technologies.

Infrastructure: College has good infrastructure, completely air-conditioned lecture halls, an adequate number of cadavers for anatomy, high-quality labs, and a central library for students. The hostels are clean, spacious, and efficiently managed by a yearly selected hostel committee. The mess and café are managed by students. The college actively participates in zonal sports and arts competitions and other tournaments. It is the overall Sports and Arts Champion of 2025. Well-maintained facilities and equipment are available for football, cricket, kho-kho, badminton, kabaddi, handball, basketball, tug of war, table tennis, chess, clubs, and grounds.

Faculty: Faculty members are friendly. Departments and the student union provide mentorship programs. There are three sessional exams, including a model exam for internal assessment, followed by the final university exam in August or September. The passing criteria are basically 40:60, i.e., one should score above 40% in theory or practical and 60% or above in the other.

Other: The college is always busy with events. Seasonal festivals like Onam, Holi, Christmas, and New Year are celebrated. It also hosts our own intra-batch fest, Euphoria, and the intercollegiate sports fest, Torque, and many more.

Placements: 100% of students get placed in this course. Most of them move on to further studies, such as pursuing postgraduate studies. The internship has to be completed at the same college. After the internship, students can either practice MBBS as general practitioners or take postgraduation after writing NEET PG.

Infrastructure: The campus is very huge with lots of trees and greenery around. There are three hostels, two of which are new. Wi-Fi is available in all hostels. There are study halls in all of them. A library is available inside the academic complex. The college infrastructure is old but good.

Faculty: The overall academic calendar is very hectic. The strictness of faculty depends on the department. There are almost no holidays, especially if you are planning to go home. Semester exams are difficult mainly in the first year, and then get easier. The pass percentage is around 90% and above.

Placements: Recruitment is through the LBS Centre. The average fee is almost Rs. 50,000 per annum. As it is a government college, many students get recruited to the college itself for internships. Many also work here after clearing competitive exams. Most students also go abroad for higher studies or jobs.

Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is overall good. It has Wi-Fi connectivity, separate classrooms for each year of B.Sc. and M.Sc. students, various departments, and more than five staff rooms along with HOD rooms. The library is well developed. Hostel facilities are limited compared to other nearby hostels. But the quality of food is good. There is also a sick room and an outdoor play area for various games.

Faculty: The college has well-qualified lecturers who are knowledgeable and have good technical abilities. The course curriculum is relevant and has good future scope. Semester exams are difficult as the college is affiliated with KUHS University. The college has a pass percentage of 95% and above.

Other: This course offers jobs after graduation. It has a very good scope for the future. We get to work in shifts of 6 or 8 hours. That is quite a good thing. I wish the semester exams were a bit easier or of moderate difficulty. Our college has frequent extracurricular activities, fests, events, scholarship programs, etc.
