On MBA Exams Cutoffs

Q:   How much percentile is a good score in CAT exam?

A:
The worthiness of CAT percentile depends on the MBA college you want to take admission into. For a Tier 1 B-School, 95 + percentile is a good score, whereas for a Tier 2 institute, 80-90 percentile is a good score. Admission cut offs of the Iims are always 95 percentile and above.

A:
Hi,In order to take admission in MBA the eligibility criteria needs to be met in LPU.The eligibility is 55% + LPUNEST/CAT/MAT/XAT/NMAT/CMAT+ Interview or Completed Company Secretary (CS) from Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) or Completed Chartered Accountancy (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or Completed Cost & Management Accountancy (CMA) from Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI).Let me share with you interview competencies that are tested as part of MBA interviews in LPU. The various parameters includes Fluency, Grammatical errors, elaboration of the concept, Clarity in thought process, Confidence, General Awareness, and leadership quality. In LPU when you sit for an MBA interview there are 2 panelists one from the core domain and the other from soft skills to assess you on speaking skills. Both the panelists will be rating you on the competency and a score will be generated. On the basis of the cut-off score only you will be considered as qualified or not. Hence, whatever is the specialization that you are wishing to opt for the faculty of the core domain will be checking you on that and keeping in mind the above competencies stated. And Yes, you will be checked about the General Awareness so you need to keep yourself up to date. You will be asked questions related to your graduation degree and what made you go for MBA as well. So, kindly prepare the justification for that. So, all the best. Stay confident and answer the questions logically keeping the above-stated factors in mind. As what questions will come your way depend upon the panelists but the factors on which you are going to be tested remain the same. Some common guidelines for appearing for Interview. 1.Ensure the web camera is working fine 2.You audio piece equipment needs to be working fine. 3.Test the audio and video before appearing for interview. 4.There should not be anyone else in the room. 5.Find a quiet place around. 6.Keep the camera at a steady position. 7.Do not sound too casual

Q:   What is the difference between CAT score and CAT percentile?

A:
CAT score is the total marks obtained by a candidate in the exam which is a sum total of their correct/incorrect attempt and unanswered questions. It is important to understand the difference between CAT score and CAT percentile because Iims and all MBA colleges in India select candidates on the basis of their CAT percentile and not score. The CAT percentile is referred to as rank of a candidate against rest of the test takers. The percentile indicates the total percentage of candidates who scored less than or equal to a particular candidate in CAT. For example, if a candidate's CAT percentile is 97, it means their performance was better than 97 per cent of the total CAT test takers that year. To understand it better, let's take an example. Suppose, 1,0000 people take an exam and a candidate is ranked the highest. It will mean that 9999 candidates scored less than that candidate. Thus, their CAT percentile will be 9999/10000x100, I. e. 99.9. You can also read in detail here: https://www.shiksha.com/mba/articles/cat-score-vs-percentile-blogId-19573.

Absolutely satisfied with the college in each and every prospect.
Placements: It was approximately 80 percent. The average package was above 10 LPA, and the lowest was 3-4 LPA. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Accenture, and Amazon come for placements. The placements are good; there are many companies that come and offer paid internships. There are more than 1000+ companies that visit the college every year.
Infrastructure: Facilities in my course are very good. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned and Wi-Fi connected. The faculty members are very good here, always ready to help and guide you. Each student has their own mentor, who is generally a professor, and they are always there to help you in all situations.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and treat you like their own children. They are highly qualified Ph.D. holders, and most of them are IITians. The teachers are the mentors of the students; they will guide you until you succeed and provide as many opportunities as you want.
Other: In my opinion, it is a value-for-money college with higher facilities. The security here is very good and strict, helping to make you a very disciplined person. There are a lot of fests conducted every week, and many influencers also come to guide the students for their career pathways.

Life in Lovely Professional University.
Placements: I am a B.Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetics student. My course fees for one year is one lakh sixty thousand. After writing the LPU NEST exam, I got a 33% scholarship, which means I received a fifty-six thousand discount. It is such a good thing for the students. The college is providing a six-month internship.
Infrastructure: The college surrounding is a peaceful area. Our minds will be relaxed by the surroundings. They have maintained everything well. Regarding the hostel facilities, the hostel rooms are nice. In every room, there are separate bathrooms and toilets, which is such a good thing.
Faculty: The faculty members are very good. They ask questions after every lecture, making the students more conscious in every class. They provide PPTs for easier studies and give us many examples and workshops, which is a good thing. Studying here is such a worthwhile experience.
Other: I chose this course because of the college and hostel facilities, the events, surroundings, campus life, extracurricular activities, students, and faculty members.

My review of LPU that highlights the pros and cons.
Placements: I'm currently in the 2nd year, so I don't have enough knowledge about the placements. If you are from CSE or IT, you will be hired by mass recruiters like Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, and similar companies. If you are from ECE, you can work in the IT industry. No core electronics company is likely to hire; maybe 40-50 out of 1000 will get into an electronics company, while the rest will work in IT. So if you are happy with getting a job in any IT company in India, earning 3.5 Lacs yearly, and are ready to put minimal to no effort during your college, you can go. You will have a lot of fun. But this is the story of almost all colleges in India, barring a few. Please note that this is the scenario of 2015.
Infrastructure: The library's infrastructure is great, but the rest of the blocks are okay. The Wi-Fi is acceptable. The food taste is average. There are plenty of facilities for sports. We pay around 80k per year for the hostel, but the facilities provided are not worth the money.
Faculty: Most of the teachers aren't that great. The course curriculum is relevant. The exams are easy to moderate, but sometimes hard. Some students are selected for industry mentor classes where they are taught by industry experts in 'online mode'. These teachers, particularly, are great at teaching.
Other: I'm interested in this course. I wish they removed unwanted subjects. The campus crowd is terrible; it is very overpopulated. We have around 10k students in B.Tech CSE 1st year alone!

This university is good for placements.
Placements: Lovely Professional University has a placement rate of 98% for Computer Science and Engineering students. The highest salary package offered was Rs. 3 crores, and the lowest was Rs. 4 lakhs per annum. Students are placed with companies like Google and Microsoft. Almost all students doing internships during their second year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and faculty at this college are very good, especially when compared to some IITs and NITs in India. The labs and some departmental infrastructure are excellent and Wi-Fi is available in the classrooms. The hostels are of good quality and provide the facilities that students need, and there are many canteens available so you don't need to worry about food. Medical and sports facilities are also available.
Faculty: The teachers were very helpful and had a lot of experience. The curriculum was relevant to the industry, and the teachers taught the subjects in a way that made them interesting and easy to learn. The semester was challenging, but not overly so. The pass percentage was 69.98.
Other: I like LPU because it has a very good CSE department, and in the future, CSE will be fully developed and many industries will need computers. The best things about LPU are its good infrastructure and good faculty lectures. One thing that could be improved is learning coding twice a week, which would be very helpful in developing coding skills. LPU has many festivals and events, including some movie promotions held on campus. The campus crowd is around 30,000 plus, and scholarships are given when you first join the university. The university also gives a discount for the same fee for four years as you got in the first year. In addition, there are some clubs related to hackathons and AIs available on campus.

A campus life you can never forget.
Placements: I don't know about the placements in the course I am pursuing right now, but I think there are opportunities available. However, I can say that placements are also very good.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good and well built. The campus has 24/7 Wi-Fi coverage. The labs are equipped with various necessary tools and are air-conditioned. The classrooms are spacious, with air conditioning in every room. The library has a wide range of books covering various fields. The quality of the hostel is also very good, and the food in the mess is quite satisfactory. There is also a health center available for students with any medical concerns.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective fields. The teaching quality is very good, and they are eager to assist students at every step. The semester exams are moderate and manageable with adequate preparation.
Other: I am studying this course because I wanted to explore something new in my student life.

The admission criteria of B.Tech in Biotechnology of LPU is any one entrance scores among the JEE Main/ CUET/ NEET/ LPUNEST. So the marks between 250-300 out of 400 are good enough in LPUNEST for getting admission in LPU in asked course.
