It depends on what you mean by “as good, ” but broadly speaking, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) can be okay for B.Tech — but Lovely Professional University (LPU) remains a stronger, safer bet overall.LPU is well-established and consistently ranked among India's top private universities: in 2025 it grabbed 49th overall in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings and 48th in the engineering category. Students and reviews often praise its modern infrastructure, broad course offerings, and strong industry-connections that support placements and internships — key for B.Tech outcomes. On the other hand, MRSPTU seems to offer a more modest outcome. Student reviews note that only around 40–50 % of students get placed, and success may heavily depend on the student's own skills.Infrastructure and faculty quality seem “decent but basic, ” and there are fewer indications of strong industry tie-ups or campus-wide placement drives. So if your aim is better placements, stronger peer competition, industry exposure, and a robust campus experience, LPU tends to deliver more consistently. If you're fine with a lower-cost, lower-profile option and are prepared to push yourself to make the most of it, MRSPTU could suffice — but it carries more risk and likely less bang for your buck.

Particularly noteworthy are LPU's varied specializations and strong industrial partnerships. To guarantee that students acquire useful, employable skills, the institution actively collaborates with businesses like as Google to provide innovative programs in domains like artificial intelligence, data science, and cloud computing. Although SRM and Thapar are reputable universities as well, LPU's commitment to experiential learning through these partnerships gives them a clear edge in educating graduates for the fast-paced IT sector. For more information kindly visit their concerned website.I hope this information helps.

The highest salary offered to B.Tech students during the recent placement drive at Lovely Professional University (LPU) was reportedly ₹ 2.5 crore per annum — this was for an international placement. For domestic campus-placements in the same cycle, the top package stood around ₹ 1.03 crore per annum. This shows that while the headline “2.5 Cr” number reflects exceptional international offers (for a small number of students), the more realistic high-end domestic offers are in the 1 Cr+ range.

Yes, LPU presents lateral entry into various programs; it is especially more popular for B.Techs and Diploma courses. Candidates who completed a three-years engineering diploma after 10th or 10+2, or possess an equivalent degree, such as B.Sc. (Computer Science), BCA, or B.Sc. (Non-Medical), with at least 60% marks are permitted to apply for B.Tech lateral entry. The applicants then enter the second year of the B.Tech program. They must qualify for the LPUNEST entrance exam. LPU offers lateral entry across several streams, which include Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Biotechnology, Food Technology, etc. Just like this, there is lateral entry in other diploma programs like Mechanical Engineering; to mention LPU's lateral entry, this example is a two-year course for the diploma holders, whereas eligibility is on the premise of prior qualifications relevant and on performance in the entrance test.Prospective students will apply to avail a lateral entry facilitation by online registration at the LPU website, uploading required academic documents, paying registration fees, and writing an LPUNEST exam. These students will then be admitted into the second year of the selected program once the entrance test results are declared. The LPU lateral entry degrees are recognized valid for employment and higher studies by UGC, AICTE, and other statutory bodies. This lateral entry option suits graduates and diploma holders from related streams optimally because it speeds up their tune-up towards engineering or technical education and entering the workforce.

No dear, there is no negative marking in LPUNEST ( Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test ) exam. So, it encourages candidates to attempt all questions without any fear of losing marks . The test is completely computer based which includes mcq questions and fill in the blanks in few courses such as in B.Tech etc. You will get marks of each correct answer but if you get a question wrong or unanswered it then it won't bring your score down . This marking scheme helps students to maximize their score and reduce exam pressure . Thank you.
