  • Candidates should make themselves familiar with various units associated with physical quantities. Then compile a list of all units where they can often get confused.
  • Aspirants have to pay special attention to topics that are there in the JEE Main 2026 syllabus but not like semi-conductor devices, electromagnetic waves, communication systems, etc.
  • Questions from semiconductor devices, electromagnetic waves, communication systems, etc based on these topics are often straightforward. Always candidates are advised to do a little extra reading, which will help them to improve their scores significantly. A thorough understanding of all that is given in NCERT textbooks on such topics is usually sufficient to solve questions in JEE Mains.
  • Candidates must make sure to have a good command of ‘Vector treatment’ wherever required.
  • As per the experts, along with any standard formula, candidates should also understand their limitations. For example, the famous equations of Kinematics are for uniform acceleration only.

The chemistry subject is mainly divided into three parts – physical, organic and inorganic chemistry:

Physical Chemistry – Candidates are advised to maintain a diary for quick revision of simple formulas pertaining to chapters like atomic structure, solid-state, ionic equilibrium, electrochemistry and thermochemistry. Also, keep in mind the situations where these formulae cannot be applied directly. An extra effort should be given to the topics mentioned above as more questions are often asked from these topics. Also, remember to study the values of log 2 (0.3010) and log 3 (0.4771) as they often come up during calculations.

Organic chemistry

In this part, candidates have to focus on various name reactions that they have come across and their mechanism. As per the experts, reactions like Ozonolysis, Aldol, Cannizzaro, Perkin and Hoffmann’s should be thoroughly understood and questions related to them should be practised regularly. The special focus should be on GOC (General Organic Chemistry). One should be good at comparing the stability of reaction intermediates and questions related to acidity and basicity. Isomerism and Organic compounds containing Oxygen should be studied in detail. Lastly, one should remember tests of the various functional groups.

Q:   Will there be any break in JEE Main 2026 exam?
A:

The total duration of JEE Main exam is 3 hours and the exam is conducted continuous without any break. Candidates have to enter the exam hall as per the scheduled time and can leave exam hall only after the completion of paper. The exam will have a total of 75 questions from 3 subjects, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

Q:   When will NTA release JEE Main exam city slip 2026?
A:

JEE Main city intimation slip 2026 will be available on the NTA official website jeemain.nta.ac.in tentatively in the third week of January for the session 1 exam. JEE Mains City slip have details about the JEE Main exam city in which the candidate is allotted the centre to appear in the exam and the date of exam. It helps candidates to plan their travel to the JEE Main exam centre in advance. JEE Main city intimation slip is different from the admit card.

Q:   I am a diabetic student. Will eatable items like candy, chocolate be allowed for me to JEE Main exam?
A:

JEE Main aspirants who are Diabetic are allowed to carry sugar tablets, fruits like bananas, oranges, or apples, and a transparent water bottle as per NTA. Diabetic students are advised to keep a check on their health before and in between the exams to avoid any health issues.

Inorganic Chemistry

Here again one should maintain a diary for noting down trivial facts pertaining to the formula of ores and composition of alloys which often come up in objective tests. Besides this, the focus should be on chapters like chemical bonding, p block elements and coordination chemistry from where the bulk of questions are asked.

How To Handle Tough Topics in JEE Mathematics

How to prepare for JEE Main 2026 Mathematics

For Mathematics, it is advisable to have a list of formulae and important concepts handy. It is better to make this list oneself rather than rely on some pre-prepared list as while writing it out one can modify it to suit individual requirements.

Below are some topics where there should be a focus area:

  • Co-ordinate Geometry: Go through the formulae with an eye on trying to pick up similarities between them – this will help in recall during the examination. Do not neglect geometrical properties especially for straight lines and circles; include those in your notes too.
  • Trigonometry: Split your notes into four parts - basic formulae, trigonometric equations, inverse and solution of triangles. However, there seem to be many formulas in this chapter in reality JEE Main questions are likely to be based on the more common results so keep those in mind.
  • Algebra: In this part, there are few formulae here, mainly properties. For Quadratic or Theory of equations, be clear about how the symmetric sums of roots occur in an equation as well as the transformation of equations. It is important in Complex Numbers to revise the interpretation of various formulae in the geometric form; it makes them more intuitive and easier to remember. Binomial, Permutation and Combination, and probability are all connected and should be revised together. In the latter two, it is good to have a marked a few typical problems to revise as well since they are less formula based and geared more towards problem-solving strategies.
  • Calculus: Candidates should be very clear on the standard limits, differentiation formulae and standard integration results. Besides this, also revise the theoretical requirements for Continuity and Differentiability as well as the properties of Definite Integration.
  • Vector and 3-D Geometry: Try to do them in conjunction as they are closely related. The questions in this section are likely to involve standard formulae.

FAQs regarding JEE Main 2026 Important Topics

Q. Which chapters can I skip for JEE Mains 2026?

With a 300 SC category rank in CAT, your chances for NIT Trichy MBA are relatively high. Based on 2025 data, NIT Trichy generally shortlists SC candidates with CAT percentiles around 60-65. To achieve a 300 rank under SC category, you would need about a 65-70 percentile, or a score of roughly 60-65
