Yes, Himalayan Garhwal University (HGU) is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC).The Government of Uttarakhand's Act No. 33 of 2016 founded and incorporated the Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University (MAHGU). In accordance with Notification No. XXXVI (3)/2016/48 (1)/2016) of the University Grant Commission (UGC) Act, 1956 and Vidhayee & Sansdiya Karyavibhag in Uttarakhand. The Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University is located adjacent to the Garhwal ranges of the Shivalik hills in a serene and pollution-free setting. The University's campus is surrounded by gorgeous natural scenery, creating the perfect setting for higher study.The mission, vision, and particular goals of the university are to provide high-quality education. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

a) Any student of other country desirous of getting admission  shall himself/ herself be responsible to obtain the educational visa and necessary clearances from the competent authorities and to fulfil other requirements, necessary for his/her study in India for pursuing or admission to any of the academic programme at the Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand.

b) International students required to enclosed Proof of their origin, copy of the passport with the application form. It is mandatory to submit eligibility certificate obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The fee/expenditure at AIU shall be borne by the candidate.

A first-Aid facility is available in the medical room on campus with all necessary medical equipment. On the call, doctors' facilities are also available on campus. They have tie-ups with medical service organizations for regular checkups of students at particular
intervals.

RESERVATION POLICY

a) Under sub-section (1) of section 35 of the Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University Act, 2016, for admission in various courses conducted by the University, Thirty-one percent (31%) seats shall be reserved for the permanent residents of the state of Uttarakhand.

b) University shall adhere to the state policy of reservation made by the State Government under the constitution of India or as notified by the Government of India for the purpose from time to time and the same shall be applicable for admission to any academic programme for OBC, SC-ST, and physically handicapped candidates (with a minimum disability to the extent of 40%), over the intake fixed for each academic Programme.

c) University may reserve a certain number of seats for NRIs, foreign nationals, PIOs, and industry personnel candidates for admission to any of the academic programmes, over the intake fixed for each academic programme.

d) Candidates seeking admission under the reserved categories shall be required to fulfil the prescribed conditions and eligibility criteria of admission to any of the academic programmes.

e) If the reserved seats are vacant, due to the non-availability of eligible candidates or any other reason, then said vacant seats may be filled by the other students on a merit basis/otherwise, as deemed fit.
