NIT Hamirpur is one of the eminent institutes which comes under the thirty-one NITs of the country. NIT Hamirpur was initially set up as a Regional Engineering College (REC) in 1986, with only two departments - Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering as compared to 13 departments at present. It was in 2002, that REC was given the status of the deemed university and upgraded to NIT Hamirpur. The institute appoints experienced and trained faculty members with years of experience. The institute has a well-equipped infrastructure which includes a library, sports complex, medical facility, hostel, and others.

In order to be admitted to the BTech programme at NIT Hamirpur, applicants must first meet the minimal requirements for admission. A minimum of 75% aggregate in Class 12 is required for candidates to apply for the degree and take the JEE Main entrance exam. A valid JEE Main score is required for admission to NIT Hamipur's BTech programme.Furthermore, JoSAA Counseling handles the final seat assignment.
