Commonly asked questions
On Admissions

Q:   Does National Law University accept CLAT score?

A:

Yes, National Law University (NLU) accepts CLAT scores. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is primarily conducted for admissions to the NLUs in India, and many private colleges and universities also accept CLAT scores for admission to law courses .

There are 22 NLUs and 61 private law colleges and universities across India that accept CLAT scores for admissions .

Additionally, there are several top colleges other than NLUs that accept CLAT scores for admission

Q:   Can students join National Law University directly without any entrance exam?

A:

No, students generally cannot join National Law University (NLU) directly without any entrance exam. Admissions to NLUs for undergraduate law courses, such as the 5-year Integrated BA LLB program, typically require students to clear national-level entrance exams like the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) or the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).

These entrance exams are the primary mode of admission to NLUs and other law colleges in India. Some private colleges may offer direct admission through management quota for students who have qualified the 10+2 or equivalent examination with a certain percentage of marks, but this is not the case for NLUs

For example, NLU Delhi conducts the AILET for admission to its B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme .

Similarly, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) conducts the NLSAT-LLB for its 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) programme .

Therefore, entrance exams are generally a mandatory requirement for admission to NLUs.

Q:   Can students get selected at National Law University with CLAT range of 75-85 marks?

A:

Yes, students can get selected at National Law University with a CLAT range of 75-85 marks. A score in the range of 75-85 is considered good for securing admissions in the top NLUs for the general category .

However, the expected scores may vary for different National Law Universities (NLUs), and top NLUs may require higher scores, so it's advisable to research specific cutoffs for the desired institution

The CLAT cutoff scores for admission to NLUs change every year, and the actual marks required for admission may vary depending on the difficulty level of the exam.

Q:   What entrance exam scores are accepted by CIC, DU for admission?

A:

The Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) of Delhi University (DU) offers admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses based on the entrance exam scores. The entrance exam is called the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET), which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in online mode.

For B.Tech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations, the candidates must have passed 10+2 in Science stream with Mathematics as one subject and a minimum percentage of marks as per their category. For B.A. (Hons), in Humanities and Social Sciences, the candidates must have passed 10+2 in any stream with a minimum percentage of marks as per their category. For M.Sc. in Mathematics Education, the candidates must have a B.Sc./B.A. degree in Mathematics with at least 55% marks.

The expected DUET score for taking admission in CIC, DU for the B.Tech programme is 320/600 under SC & OBC (including PwBD) category. The DUET score for other courses and categories may vary depending on the number of applicants and the difficulty level of the exam. The final admission is based on the merit list prepared by the CIC, DU according to the marks obtained by the candidates in the DUET.

Q:   Can I get admission to National Law University for B.A. LL.B with 60% in Class 12th?

A:

It is extremely rare to be admitted to a National Law University (NLU) B.A. LL.B. programme with a 60% Class 12th score because of the competitive admissions process and the increased importance of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) results. High-scoring applicants are drawn to NLUs, where competition is intense for a limited number of places. A more important factor in the selection process, the CLAT score demonstrates legal acumen and the candidate's likelihood of succeeding in law school. Admission is not certain if one meets the minimum requirements for Class 12 marks; real cutoff scores vary among NLUs and programs and are often higher.

Q:   Can I get into CIC, DU with 70% in class 12th?

A:

To get admission into CIC, DU, you need to meet the eligibility criteria and clear the entrance test conducted by the university. The eligibility criteria vary depending on the course and the category of the candidate. For example, for B.Tech. (IT & MI), you need to have at least 60% marks in any four subjects (including Mathematics) in class 12th if you belong to the general category. For B.A. (H) Humanities and Social Science, you need to have at least 60% marks in any four subjects (including English/MIL) in class 12th if you belong to the general category. The entrance test is called CUET (Cluster Innovation Centre Entrance Test) and it consists of three sections: Language, Mathematics, and General Test.

If you have 70% marks in class 12th, you may be eligible for these courses if you belong to the OBC, PwD, or CW categories. However, you also need to perform well in the entrance test to secure a seat in CIC, DU. The admission is done on the basis of the rank secured based on the CUET scores.

Q:   Is there any way of applying offline for the National Law University application form?

A:

Both the National Law University Delhi and the Consortium of National Law Universities, which conducts the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), require applicants to submit their application forms online. The National Law University Delhi specifically states that the candidate will have to apply online through their website, while the CLAT instructions also emphasize that the applications have to be submitted online only. Therefore, for these specific institutions and exams, there is no provision for offline application.

It is a good college and has good value for money.
Placements: In our college, almost all students are placed. The highest salary package offered is 20 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 12 LPA. Foreign firms come to the campus for recruitment. They offered a salary package worth more than 40 LPA.
Infrastructure: We have air-conditioned classrooms. The hostel rooms have air conditioning. There is a paucity of rooms in the hostels currently, but the college administration has assured us that they are working on the same and new hostel buildings will be constructed soon.
Faculty: Our college teachers are excellent. Our college provides us with the best law faculty members in India. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are not easy but most students pass them.

Everything in the college is awesome, and I highly recommend it.
Placements: The college provides top-quality education in all courses because there are India's best teachers. You'll get a chance to learn from them. 80% of students get internships. The highest package offered is around 20 LPA, and the lowest package is around 4.5 LPA, and the average package is around 7 LPA from the top judicial public and private firms in India.
Infrastructure: There are lots of facilities in the hostel. I suggest everyone take admission here. The college has good facilities and services like Wi-Fi, labs, library, rooms, and top-quality food. Students feel like they are at their home.
Faculty: Students get top-quality education here because teachers are highly qualified and experienced. They are very helpful and motivate the students. They help students in every situation. In almost every course, students get high packages. I would say this college provides a bright future to its students. Semester exams are not much easy, but the quality of knowledge students get helps them pass easily. The passing percentage is 33%.
Other: As I am interested in becoming a good lawyer, I went to this college. This course gives me satisfaction and provides a going future in the judicial area, but I think this course is a bit more time taking than usual, so they need to improve this. All other facilities are top-notch.

Review of NLU Delhi (NLUD) - National Law University.
Placements: This year's cutoff was 96.5% or more. The highest salary package offered is 16 LPA, the median salary package offered is 9 LPA, and the minimum salary package offered is 6 LPA or 7 LPA. Companies depend on your field in LL.B. at Least 87% is required for internship and it is not fixed. The top roles offered are judge and experience and victory of a lawyer.
Infrastructure: Everything is good including all facilities like Wi-Fi on the whole campus and there are digital classrooms. My friend lives at the hostel and the hostel facilities are good including a clean mess with good quality food. Sports are also there and students who are from sports quota get priority there.
Faculty: Lecturers in our college are very kind to students. But students misbehave with them and I don't know the reason for it. No doubt teachers are very helpful and kind. They are qualified in many fields. As the Indian education system doesn't have practicality, I can't say that it will make students industry-ready because experience speaks. All you need to do is get into the industry from a small level.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in law. Events like the annual fest and many more are held in this college.

Review of NLU Delhi (NLUD) - National Law University.
Placements: Placements take place through a process known as Day-0 in which students are interviewed by corporation firms. Students have a 100% of placement rate for many years. The recruiting companies range from Magic Circle firms to 2nd and 3rd tier Law Firms. Foreign firms usually hire through vacation schemes and their procedures.
Infrastructure: Our library and classrooms are brilliant. There is a lot of space available. Recently, our campus has become denser due to NCR reservations. Wi-Fi quality is down, but it is still good. The food is fine. Sports facilities are also improved gradually.
Faculty: Teachers are good and helpful. As someone who has special needs in the past, the teachers have been very supportive of them. The curriculum is interesting and has proved useful in practice whenever I have taken internships. This college semester is demanding but there are plenty of resources to help students, and the administration is sensitive and understanding.

Highly experienced faculty members.
Placements: NLU provides good placement offers and not only placement offers but the university opens the doors of various opportunities for lawyers. For the 2019 batch, the college was able to maintain the offer package of 15 LPA which is in term was the highest in 2019 for our university and the average salary offer was around 7 LPA. Trilegal, OYO, Steel Authority of India Limited, Khaitan & Co. , etc. Are the names of the few companies and firms that took part in the college placement drive.
Infrastructure: The classrooms were very good and the voice was also properly audible to every corner of the class. The auditorium of the university is big and has a seating capacity of more than 600 people. The college library which is T. P. S Chawla Library, has more than 35000 books and the library also has a subscription to lots of online databases from Oxford to Cambridge University, the library is a pool of knowledge. The university also offers sports facilities. The hostel building is very nicely maintained and the hostel also has indoor games facilities. The rooms are fully furnished and the hostel hygiene is very well maintained.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are permanent and good, and coming from a strong background in law considering they rejected job offers from some highly reputed law firms as they used to tell us. The teaching methodology of all the faculty members is unique and appealing which makes the daunting task of learning very easy.
