B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2017

Dissatisfied with placements in 2017, but the faculty and course curriculum were very good.
Placements: Placements were not much good for our course in 2017, but the placements are quite good for mechanical and civil branches. For CS, companies like Tech Mahindra, Wipro, SAP, etc., have visited our campus and offered the roles of analyst, software developer, and tester etc. There are some schemes for internships. The stipend offered to me was Rs. 8,000 per month during my internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good as of now, but it could be better. Wi-Fi facility is great. Labs and classrooms are good. The college provides many opportunities for sports and games. The hostel was not much good. Rooms are somehow manageable, but the food was worst. I faced issues only with the food provided in the hostel. Food provided in the canteen was also not good.
Faculty: Teachers in our department were helpful and knowledgeable. They are very good at explaining things. They are always ready to solve any issues related to the course. Industrial tours were organised. The course curriculum was useful. They used to provide course exit survey just to get some reviews from students.
Other: NERIST celebrates a cultural fest called RACAF, sports week and a technical fest called Srishti.

I was satisfied with the course curriculum and faculty but not much satisfied with placements.
Placements: Placements for our batch and our senior batch were moderate. Around 30% of the students got placed. The highest salary package offered was 10 LPA. Companies like SAP, Wipro, Zaloni and Tata Zen have visited our campus. Almost 100% of the students were offered internships in different organisations. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 12,000 per month, and it was offered by IIT, Mumbai. There is a well-formed placement cell on our campus.
Infrastructure: Facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, sport and games facilities are good. Good quality machines are available in all the labs, and they are also providing good internet facilities. Quality of food and hostel rooms was moderate. I did not face any issues regarding the infrastructure of our college during my tenure.
Faculty: Most of the teachers in our department were helpful, and their quality of teaching was good. Most of the teachers use the blackboard to teach. Sometimes, they even use seminars and presentations to teach. The faculty to student ratio was 1:8. Our course curriculum was useful.

It is significantly poor kind of institute being a central institute.
Placements: No significant placement is seen being a central institute. A great effort is yet to be given by the institute in this regard. Being a central institution, some reputed enterprises should be invited for the placement. Though the institute is located in an isolated place, yet the government and institute should move their steps forward.
Infrastructure: There is an average infrastructure on the campus. Remarkably, some buildings are under construction. The hostels are located far away from the classes. Especially, the computer science, electronics and electrical engineering departments are very far away from the hostel.
Faculty: Courses are a bit old in the case of computer science. Some modern courses such as mobile application development should be implemented soon. Digital marketing and other specialised courses should also be included in the curriculum so that the students can get a better scope in the era of competition.

Overall, it is more than average college.
Placements: The placements are good. Many companies such as HP, Infosys, TATA, Adobe comes to college. However, only some get selected, but they offer a well deserving salary. They offer up to 16 lacs salary. Up to 30% - 40% students get the placements from this companies. The roles like consultants, certain department manager, are given.
Infrastructure: It's good till now. But many buildings are being built to provide a more than better infrastructure. Recently library was inaugurated with elevators in it. We have free access to Wi-Fi excluding the class time. We have good sports, facility. The college canteen is okay with the food quality. However, hostels have got some problems, but we are soon likely to shift to a new hostel. RACAF - cultural fest and Shristi - tech fest are organised. It has a peaceful campus.
Faculty: Some teachers are good however some aren't up to the mark. Some teach according to the need of the students and some teaches only to complete the course. The faculty-student ratio is very good, especially in CS department. The course we do is useful for the basic need of the industries. I am okay with the course content. The teaching is done with normal lectures, tutorials and practicals.

Surrounded by the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, good placement in 2023, developing infrastructure.
Placements: In the current final batch of UG and PG, approximately 60% of students are placed, with the top recruiters being big tech companies, management firms, and consulting firms. The highest package in my department was 72 LPA in the year 2023, with the lowest being 4.5 LPA and an average package of 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are equipped with modern, advanced equipment such as smart boards, projectors, sound systems, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. The central library has nearly 100K books, top-notch interior, and 24*7 Wi-Fi and electricity. Hostel rooms are average, equipped with Wi-Fi, common rooms, recreational areas, sports facilities, etc.
Faculty: Experienced, expert faculty members provide classes. The student-teacher ratio is acceptable. The course curriculum is similar to that of top tech institutes like IIT and NIT and is relevant to the current market. Semester exams are easy to moderate, with a pass percentage of more than 90%.

Great fests and less focus on studies.
Placements: Very few students got placed. The highest package has been 12 LPA-16 LPA and the lowest is around 1 LPA. One cannot expect much from the on-campus placement as they are trash. Very little is offered especially for CSE. However branches like mechanical get good packages.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and library are available. The labs are great and well-maintained. On the other hand hostels are in very poor condition. The Wi-Fi surely works 24/7. Sometimes there is no water in the hostel or dirty water. In the bathing water there is a lot of iron due to which hair loss happens to most of the students.
Faculty: Some teachers are good and some are just there for the sake of being faculty. They have no love for teaching and no teaching skills. My core branch teachers are great, and they give free attendance. But still, every teacher comes to their class because they love teaching and treat students nicely, while on the other hand, a few teachers are so arrogant.
Other: The best thing about my college is the fests and events. There are literally way more opportunities in them. The surrounding environment is also good. The only problem is there is no good food for North Indians.

I am not satisfied as the campus placements are very low. The competition is not very high.
Placements: Placements are provided at somewhat good companies. It offers jobs to students, but only a few are placed. So we need to work more on it to upgrade our placement system. Only a few students used to get placed every time, and most of them are unemployed. It will be good if our institute introduces more companies and places more students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and instruments available in the institute are becoming very old and need to be replaced. Some of the old equipment cannot be used anymore, as it does not conduct practicals smoothly. The hostel infrastructure is very old, and it needs to construct a new hostel. Mess food is not good, and it must work on it to provide good and hygienic food.
Faculty: Teachers are quite good here. They are more friendly, very kind, and very helpful with the students. The course curriculum is relevant to most other colleges like IIT and NIT, which will brighten and shape students. Semester exams are quite easy and smoothly conducted. We can pass exams with 35 percent.
