Patna University MSc 2025 2nd merit list has been released, and the counselling cum admission process is to be held from Sep 2 to Sep 4, 2025.

The university also offers a regular Master of Science (MSc) programme in 11 specialisations It is offered full-time over two years. The applicants of this course must have a BSc degree in a relevant subject of study to be eligible for applying for admission. The selection of candidates for this course is based on their merit in the last qualifying examination.

Review of Patna University.

Placements: Approximately 30 percent of students get placed in this course, and the highest package offered in this course is 8 LPA. However, the lowest package offered in this course is around 3 LPA. Also, the same percentage of students get an internship in this course.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good, and the surroundings are also attractive. All the classrooms are big in size, and the library has sufficient books. Also, the facilities provided in the hostel are good, and the food quality is acceptable.

Faculty: Teachers are good and highly qualified, and their knowledge greatly enhances their teaching quality, which is really appreciable. The course curriculum is absolutely relevant, making students industry-ready. Semester exams are easy to pass, and more than 90 percent of students easily pass them.

Review of Patna University.

Placements: About 30 to 40 percent of students get placed in this course and if we talk about the highest package of the college then it is around 9 LPA for this course and the lowest package is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata, Romsons etc.

Infrastructure: Overall infrastructure of the college is good and attractive, and the campus is big in size. Each department is separated, including many good facilities provided by the college such as medical facilities, library, etc. Food available in the mess is tasty.

Faculty: Teachers are good and supportive, and if we talk about their qualifications, they are highly qualified, with many of them having already completed their Ph.D. degree in their respective subjects. Semester exams are easy to pass and are conducted every 6 months.

Overall this college is good.

Placements: There's no placement cell in this department. However, sometimes, through the connections of teachers, some students get placed, but only in call centers or non-technical lines. This is the worst thing here. If you want only a degree, then you can continue from here.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on campus. Labs are also neat and clean, and classrooms are also good. But the hostels are the worst. The mess food is terrible, and seniors always rag juniors. There are very strict rules for students.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and helpful. However, some of the teachers are not good at teaching, but they are knowledgeable. This course is relevant only if you want to go into ISRO or the research line. The semester exams are too tough; only 30% of students pass.

Overall, it is one of the oldest, greatest and brightest universities.

Placements: About 50% of students got placed. Mainly banking and finance jobs are offered. About 25% of students got internships. Statistics play an important role in business department. Various government and private institutions offered internships to students.

Infrastructure: The best infrastructure is available. Facilities like Wi-Fi, library, canteen, laboratories, computer lab, playground, auditorium, etc., are available. All the facilities are world-class. Parks, science department, basketball court, digital library, cricket playground, badminton court, etc., are available.

Faculty: The best possible faculty are available. Courses are relevant and make students industry-ready. Some guest faculty also come to give us lectures. Some faculty members graduated from IITs. All the faculty members are very well qualified.

Other: It is one of the oldest and greatest universities.

I am satisfied with the average infrastructure and practical equipment.

Placements: I have pursued my masters, and after post-graduation, there are no placements. The salary package was not offered by any company based on this course. For higher studies, one has to qualify NET, GATE or other PhD entrance exams.

Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms have an average infrastructure with almost sufficient equipment for practicals. The library has a good collection of the Indian and foreign writers books. The canteen serves normal hygienic food, but the sports facilities are poor.

Faculty: Teachers in our college were helpful and qualified. I gained too much knowledge from them, but some teachers didn't have knowledge up to their post. The course curriculum is relevant for post-graduation, but it's not enough to prepare for further competitions.

Other: I have chosen this course because this course is required for eligibility to join lectureship in a recognised university after pursuing PhD and also to give the NET examination for further PhD and research along with a fellowship in a recognised university. I wish the college should provide the syllabus more vast covering techniques and some other topics related to life sciences, which help students in the PhD entrance exams.

The university had a golden history, but it is loosing its reputation nowadays.

Placements: Students from M.Sc Mathematics cannot get the placement opportunities easily, as no private company or government company can offer the appropriate roles. The department of Maths has many renowned scholars as faculty. Mr KC Sinha sir is very cooperative and helpful to the students.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very poor. Students are facing many problems like drinking water, electricity supply and many others. The college has a library, but it remains closed most of the times. The library doesn't have new and updated books. Students face problems regarding the availability of books.

Faculty: Not many faculty members are available. The students face problems with the lack of faculty. The course curriculum is apparently good because it is more theoretical than practical. The faculty like Mr KC Sinha sir, our HOD Mr BG Prashad Ravi sir, and Mr LN Roy are trying to complete the syllabus. They are cooperative, but they are unable to give their best because they have heavy workloads. As the number of teachers in less, they have to teach many subjects to the students.

Other: Overall, the department of mathematics in Patna University is degrading day by day.
