MBA in International Business - Batch of 2024

A genuine review from a student of Pondicherry University. I am dissatisfied with placements.
Placements: Only less than 50% of them got placed. The highest package is 12 LPA, and that too only for one student. The lowest package is 1.8 LPA. The average package is 2.4 LPA. The top recruiting companies for our course are Federal Bank, Mana Tech, and SBI Bank. An internship is mandatory in the last semester, and if we try with our own connections, then we can get it in good companies. Top roles offered are HR assistant, HR executive, and business development executive.
Infrastructure: The department is pretty decent with all the needed facilities. Wi-Fi is available. No lab facility is provided for us. Classrooms are well-maintained with AC. A good library is also available. Hostels are affordable. The food quality is not that bad but still, it needs improvement. Medical facilities are available 24x7. Sports and games are encouraged.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and superb. They will not help us unless they feel to help. The teaching quality is good, but they take revenge on the internals if we are not attending the class well. The course curriculum is not relevant, and it is outdated. It needs further improvements. Exams are easy, and if we prepare well we can get good marks.
Other: The main reason for choosing the course is to get exposure to international business and how the import and export documentation works, etc. However, the course curriculum needs to be improved and updated. The department organises a big fest called Globizz every year. There are many other fests in different departments where we can also join. The campus has an enjoyable crowd. The connectivity can be an issue because it is about 12 kilometers away from the bus stand and railway station. Scholarships are provided by the university. Campus surroundings are not that bad, but need to be careful.

Top class placement in the department of MBA.
Placements: Almost all the recruiters were top-class recruiters, and our university got integrated with world-class corporation. Our University are well known for excellence in terms of placements. The average package offered to the students is about 4.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Most unique envy with the different infrastructure. The student union and clubs were encouraged by the teachers, considering the social responsibility of the students. Two-wheelers were allowed for students and staff for transportation.
Faculty: Lectures are mostly knowledgeable and experienced in their respective scores. They induce positive thoughts and ideas in the minds of students. While submitting project reports, teachers help us by clarifying errors and giving some ideas with little suitable changes.

Pondicherry university - MBA ib.
Placements: Our college provides placement offers and drives from the third semester onwards. Many companies, and especially banks are visiting our college for placement activities. The placement percentage is low compared to the previous year because students' strength is high.
Infrastructure: Pondicherry University maintains very good infrastructure. It is clean and good with a natural environment. Our university is completely covered with trees. Our classrooms have air conditioners. Wi-Fi is available on campus. There is a reading room. It is open till midnight at 3 AM.
Faculty: Faculty members at Pondicherry University are one of the institutions with the greatest strengths. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom, with many having significant academic and industry backgrounds. Their dedication to student success is evident in their teaching. It is characterised by clear communication, practical insights, and a genuine willingness to help students grasp complex concepts. They are approachable and encourage open discussions, making the learning environment both stimulating and supportive. The course structure at Pondicherry University is well-designed to provide a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application. It is structured to cover the core subjects essential for a solid foundation in the field. It offers electives that allow students to explore their specific areas of interest. There are two semesters each year and two internal exams each semester.

I am dissatisfied because of the low placements, and faculty members.
Placements: Only 10% through campus selection. The highest package was around 6 lakhs and the average was 3 lakhs. The main recruiters were from the banking industry, such as Federal Bank and Bendan Banks. Almost all students got internships in good companies like ULCC, Tata Motors, and General Electric. The top roles offered in the course were HR managers, supply chain managers, product procurement officers, and sales managers. These are some of the roles that can be achieved by doing international business management.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at this college is good compared to other government colleges. All classrooms have projectors and Wi-Fi, and the library has a good selection of books that are helpful for studies. However, some of the hostels lack good infrastructure due to lack of maintenance, and the mess food is really bad. The medical facility is not that good, but it is adequate.
Faculty: Some of the professors don't have good knowledge in what they are teaching, and this is because they are teaching subjects that they are not majored in. The course curriculum is not that good and it is not helping students to be ready for the market. Semester exams are not that hard, but the passing percentage is typically 70% or above.
Other: I chose this course because it is related to logistics and supply chain management, which is a major part of any business. The course helps students understand the supply chain and global business of a company. However, the curriculum needs to be updated to keep up with the current scenario in the business world. The campus events and programs are good, and most students participate. Extracurricular activities take place occasionally. Next week we are signed up for a blood donation campaign at a nearby hospital. These activities help students to be more socially responsible. Overall, the programs and activities on campus are good.

Obviously it's a good experience and feeling to get degree from such a prestigious university.
Placements: I have done my MBA in IB in PU in distance learning. It was such a nice experience and professors are way beyond the expectations. I have classmates from different ages and professions. Exams and syllabus were in high quality just like a full-Time degree. All over it was a good experience and learning space. You could get to see and mingle with different people and culture.
Infrastructure: Yes since it is a central university. Every facility is available. The environment is beautiful and clean. Hostel wise, there are many to respective degree. Security is at a high level and there would be more rules and regulations to be followed.
Faculty: Yes, teachers were awesome and knowledgable. They have wide knowledge across the course and subject. Every exam was handled with a high level of IQ. Evaluation is Also perfect and our curriculum is in perfect mode to the degree. It has more of practical knowledge.

The best place to boost your career.
Placements: The placements are good in this university. I too got placed in a Coffee Day Global Limited division Coffee Day Beverages. Other companies like TCS, Oyo, Infiniti Software Solutions, ITC, and many more. In the end, it totally depends on the candidate, how much he/she is capable of getting himself/herself placed. Mostly, the average salary offered here is in the slab of 3-5Lac per annum. But, some companies do offer more than this (e. g. TCS offered 6 lacs per annum, HDFC bank offered 6.8 lacs per annum, etc.). Mostly, companies come for the sales job and banking sector job. Almost 50% of our batch got placed, but from our senior batch, around 70-75% of them got placed. Some companies provide internship for around 2 months before the actual joining with a stipend of around 6-10K per month.
Infrastructure: Since it is a central university, all the facilities are very good. The library is separate, and also, there is a separate annexe for studying which is Wi-Fi enabled as well as air-conditioned. The classrooms are air-conditioned and Wi-Fi enabled. Hostel rooms are pretty much good. There are no air-conditioned hostel rooms, but every hostel has got high-speed Wi-Fi networks. There are around 10 boys hostels and 7 girls hostels. There is a separate medical hospital which is run by both government medical officer and also Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, PIMS where doctors are available 24*7. Labs facilities are also very good and also so many useful and helpful resources, journals, etc., are there which anyone can access. Sports grounds for football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, etc., are there. Even a gym is available which is separate for boys and girls. There are overall 4 canteens on the university campus which provides healthy and hygienic food at very reasonable prices. In starting, I faced a problem with Wi-Fi, but in the next year, this problem also got resolved. When I was coming out of that hostel, I didn't actually feel good to leave that room as it was the best room in the entire hostel.
Faculty: All the faculty members were helpful, even of the other departments. Whenever I tried to reach out to any faculty of any department for any issue, they resolve the issue without being biased with their own department students only. They are highly qualified since it's a central university, so the hiring process is also done on a very strict basis. The teaching methods used at my time were both verbal as well as digital. The teaching quality of every faculty was up to the mark even above only. In our batch, there were 67 students and 8 faculty members. All the faculty members are highly qualified, professionals with industry experiences, and teaching experience of average 10 years. Some are with an experience of 30 years also. We got the industry exposure. Our batch visited Bangalore Chemical and Fertilizers (MCF) and New Bangalore Port Trust as our industrial visit. The course curriculum was helpful.
Other: The students will get scholarships for their better performances in the academics as well as other activities. Fest used to happen on the campus. For every department, different fests are there. For us, it was Glocizz. Basically, it is not known as fests rather, there we call it as industry interface meets. This university is located around 14 km far from the main Pondicherry city which is a very beautiful and remarkable city. Many cultural events happen over there from time to time (like Kerela festival Onam, Tamil Nadu festival Pongal, Odisha festival Utkal Divas, etc.). Since it is a very culturally diversified university, where many students from different parts of the country and around the world also used to come, so every religion and culture is respected by everyone. This university also has many MoUs with many different universities around the globe. It's my point of view towards my university, and since I got so much from there, so I thought of paying it back by describing it and suggesting it to others too which will be helpful.

The college is good and it has good placements in MBA, good infrastructure but food taste is poor
Placements: The students are placed in well-established organizations. Seniors were 40% placed and this year, we are expecting more. There is no 100% placement here, but at least 50% students will be placed. The lowest package is 2.5 LPA, the highest package is 5.1 LPA and the average is 2.8 LPA. Top companies are Coffee Day Beverages, TCS, ITC, Infiniti Software Solutions, VKC Pride, ICICI, HDFC, Axis, etc. Mostly, management trainee, sales trainee, finance analyst, credit manager, customer relationship officer etc. roles are offered. I can say hardly 5% students got the internship from the college. Sorry, don't expect the stipend. You have to work for free to get experience.
Infrastructure: The Pondicherry University campus has good basic facilities like campus transport and a health center (24*7). Sports facilities are not that much good. The library has various books, but most books are useless. The library has to update the books. The computer lab is good. Classrooms are equipped with air-conditioners and a good infrastructure. The food quality is good and the taste is not good. Hostel rooms are congested with three members, but you can have fun here. The college is good, but not an excellent choice for students, who can go for private colleges.
Faculty: Faculty members are from various states of India. They are helpful and few are very supportive of students. A few professors have to improve the teaching and communication with students. The student to faculty ratio in my department is 10:1. I got exposure in industries, due to my self-interest. The curriculum has to update according to current standards. As of know, some what okay with curriculum and getting placements with the knowledge acquired from it.
Other: If you are expecting high standards of education in management. You will be disappointed in the end. If you have the ability of self-learning and understanding, the campus is fair enough for a normal student. The safety of campus is little bit messed up with outsiders, but now madras high court gave strict rule and norms of safety and security in inside university. If anyone can bear 1 lakh amount for MBA, those students can go for it, because the entrance exam is not that much tough. The pass percentage of students is 100 percent. You can enjoy the french colony, beaches, auroville and many more places while studying here for two years.

Other: I will rate this University at 3.5/5. This is a central University which has been in existence since 1986. Though the University has well established facilities, it lags well behind other Central and Private University. One thing worth mentioning is the value for money and the diversities offered in the campus. As the case in all big universities and organizations, the university is submerged with lots of internal politics and conflicts, where the faculty personal interests are given priority rather than student's life.
