Thapar University admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses is based on candidates' performance in several national-level entrance exams. For TIET BTech admission, candidates must have class 12 and a valid JEE Main score. Apart from JEE Main, TIET also accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT/GRE/ Thapar Entrance Test for MBA and GATE for ME/ M.Tech admission. 

The University has released the highest package details for UG courses. TIET offers MSc courses for the duration of two years, divided into four semesters, and offered in full-time mode. The basic eligibility requirement to qualify for the MSc courses is that candidates must  complete their graduation/BSc degree in the relevant/similar field according to the chosen specialisation. Moreover, the admission process is based on merit, which is assessed after examining candidates' scores in their Class 12 and graduation.  

For the admission to B.E./BTech courses, the Thapar University has released the JEE Main cutoff, wherein, the most and least preferred among the General All India category candidates were B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and B.E. in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology), respectively. The cutoff rank for CSE and EE (VLSI and Tech.) as per the Thapar University JEE Main cutoff 2025, stood at 33379 and 77189 for the General AI category candidates. TIET admission process includes the submission of the application form, entrance test, release of merit list, counselling process and final fee payment process. For some courses, admission is merit-based. Candidates seeking admission to the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology must follow the step-wise admission process as given below. 

Step 1: Thapar University Application Process 2025

The very first step of the admission process is to visit the official website of the University to fill out the application form. The TIET application process is conducted in online mode. Candidates have to register through the official website of TIET to apply for any of the programmes. Follow the below-mentioned steps for the complete TIET application process:

Step 1.1: Visit the official website of TIET. 

Step 1.2: Click on “Admission 2025” and register yourself. 

Step 1.3: Fill out the application form by entering the required academic and personal details.

Step 1.4: Upload a scanned photo of the qualifying exam mark sheet and a passport-size photograph.

Step 1.5: Pay the application fee online via debit/ credit card or net banking. 

Documents required at the time of admission:

• Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheet
• UG mark sheet (if applicable)
• PG mark sheet (if applicable)
• Date of birth certificate
• Passport-size photograph
• Transfer certificate
• Character certificate

Step 2: Appear for the Entrance Test

In the next step, candidates are required to appear for the entrance test i.e. JEE Main/ NEET for Thapar University BTech admission. If candidates have a valid score in JEE Main or NEET they need to mention their scores in the TIET application form. 

Step 3: Declaration of the Merit List

Based on the marks secured in the entrance test, TIET release the merit list of selected students for the counselling round. The merit list released by the University includes the name of the students along with their entrance test scores, category and allocated branch name. 

Step 4: Counselling Process & Fee Payment 

The next step is to appear for the counselling process. Candidates whose names appear in the provisional merit list released by the University are only eligible to appear for the counselling round. After the counselling round, selected students need to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats for Thapar University BTech admission.
