B.A. (Hons.) in Hindi - Batch of 2028

Good faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: If we talk about foreign languages, then after becoming fluent in a language, one can easily get opportunities in any multinational company. In the field of Hindi, one option is to become a teacher of this subject, and apart from that, becoming a professor is also a good career choice.
Infrastructure: The entire university campus has free Wi-Fi facilities. Talking about the library, many departments have their own libraries, and apart from that, there is a central library where we can easily access lac of books. The seating arrangements are also quite good. Viva-Bharati has around 30 hostels in total. The hostel facilities are average. Some hostels are in very good condition. For medical needs, there is a hospital called PM Hospital, where students receive free treatment. The campus is very large (spread over about 1,100 acres). There are so many trees here that it feels as if we have entered the lap of nature. The atmosphere here is completely peaceful.
Faculty: The faculty here is quite good. Speaking of teachers and backgrounds, they have completed their degrees from prestigious universities in the country. Their teaching methods are easy to understand, and the behavior of all the teachers is also good. Semester exams get delayed sometimes because admissions through the queue take time. The passing percentage in some departments is very good, but overall, the passing percentage is found to be a bit low.
Other: I already had an interest in Hindi, which is why I chose this subject. The history of this department has been very unique. Many great writers have served as teachers in Hindi Bhawan, such as Hazari Prasad Dwivedi. Apart from him, many renowned poets and writers used to visit here. Viva-Bharati was declared a World Heritage Site in 2023.

M.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2024

5Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Overall, best university for M.Sc. in botany course.
Placements: Most of the students got jobs in top multi-national companies. Last year, the highest salary offered was around 23 LPA by Microsoft. The average number was also high. Top recruiting companies were NCBS, CMFRI, IISc, etc. Many students were offered full-time jobs and work in a variety of supporting roles. Top jobs were botanist, plant taxonomist, and so on.
Infrastructure: Facilities at our college were quite excellent. Every branch consisted of blocks, and each block included either lift 1 or 2. We additionally maintain distinct areas for sports, library, and canteen. College campus lacks hotels, but there were 3 hotel locations within 5 KM. I prefer staying at private hotels since they offer larger and higher quality rooms.
Faculty: Faculty members were highly experienced. Most of them completed their PhDs. They were friendly while teaching and clarifying doubts. College was self-contained, so semester exam correction was done at the college itself. The hard paper was moderate. The pass percentage was always high. The pass rate was over 50%.

B.A. (Hons.) in Geography - Batch of 2025
2.8

Glimpses of Viva Bharati Bolpur Shantiniketan.
Placements: Placement at Viva Bharati is not so much developed. In the Department of Geography, Vidya Bhavan, placement does not take place as it is a B.A. course, so there is no placement for geography students. Somehow in other departments like Vinay Bhavan, which is the sports and education department, placement happens with the least package.
Infrastructure: In the Department of Geography, the facilities of Wi-Fi and labs are very much good and well developed. The classrooms are well furnished and air-conditioned. The library and the overall institute are good, and the library is very much better. In the department, there is a seminar hall, and the ex-building is our own Padma Bhavan, which also includes the Department of Geography, Department of History, Department of Ancient History, and Department of English.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful in nature, and curricular activities like seminars happen regularly (e.g., there are professors who take us to Japan, the US, and many more) just to increase the students' mindset. Exams are also organized regularly as it is a home university, so the exams are conducted at our university itself.
Other: The campus life of this university is very much different from other universities as it is located in Shantiniketan, Bolpur, West Bengal. There is a rich culture of its own; it has its own heritage culture, and this university has been recognized by UNESCO as the world's living heritage complex and university. It plays an important role in India. It is also a central university. The cost of living and the cost of study are also very much affordable as there is a hostel for living. The departments are very near the hostel, so it might take 5 to 10 minutes to walk there.

Blending nature, culture, and quality education at Viva-Bharati.
Placements: As a fresher, I can share insights based on the previous batches of the B.Sc. Botany course. While placements are limited in pure sciences, around 10%-15% of students got placed, mainly in research labs and educational roles. The average package range between 2.5 LPA-3.5 LPA, with the highest reaching around 5 LPA. Many students pursue higher studies rather than direct placements. Internships were offered to about 20%-30% of students, mostly in research institutes and NGOs. Roles include lab assistants, research interns, and field surveyors. The course is more academically inclined, preparing students for research and postgraduate studies.
Infrastructure: Viva Bharati offers small classrooms, well-equipped science labs, high-speed campus Wi-Fi, and a rich central library with departmental and cultural archives. Hostels provide basic, clean accommodation with mess facilities serving simple, healthy meals. Campus hospital offers 24/7 medical support and emergency care. The university promotes physical well-being through sports fields, gym, swimming pool, and indoor games. Museums and cultural spaces add to the academic depth. Surrounded by nature, the campus fosters holistic development, blending traditional values with modern learning. Overall, it's a peaceful and resource-rich environment ideal for academic and personal growth, as envisioned by Tagore.
Faculty: The faculty is highly qualified, experienced, and supportive. Teachers are approachable and encourage interactive learning, often blending theory with practical insights. The curriculum, especially in Science streams like Botany, is well structured and updated to include both foundation and advanced topics, making it relevant for research and industry. Regular practical, fieldwork, and assignments enhance understanding. Semester exams are moderately challenging, focusing on conceptual clarity and application. With consistent study, students can perform well. The overall pass percentage remains high, reflecting the effectiveness of both teaching and assessment methods. The course helps in building a strong academic and career foundation.
Other: I chose Botany because of my deep love for plants, nature, and the environment. The course allows me to explore plant life scientifically and connect it with sustainability, which aligns with my passion and future goals. The best part is the blend of theory, lab work, and field studies. I wish there were more interactive sessions, updated lab tools, and industry exposure. The campus is peaceful, green, and rich in culture. Events like Basant Utsav, Posh Mela, and student fests make it vibrant. The crowd is diverse, and scholarships support many.

Great campus and professors.
Placements: Placement is very low. There is no placement in the arts subjects, but there is placement in the language and management courses, etc. The scenario isn't that great now, but when the university was ranked in the top ten in NIRF, placement was better than it is now.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good with AC available, and free Wi-Fi is provided on campus. A cooler and free Wi-Fi are also available in the hostel. The hostel fee is very low. The hostel premises are clean, and there are many canteens, grounds, and a gym with well-equipped machines and a trainer.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, and their teaching quality is also great. The exams in the university are difficult. The pass percentage is 40%. The curriculum is also relevant, but I don't think that it makes the students industry-ready, to be honest.
Other: Our batch was very good, they all were helpful and good at studies as well. The best thing about my course was the professors. They literally helped us a lot, along with the Ph.D. scholars. The surrounding area is full of greenery, with well-maintained roads, and a lot of functions and rituals are also celebrated.

Discontinued (Jul 24)- B.A. (Hons.) in Japanese - Batch of 2026

It has an average study, a beautiful environment, and the best culture.
Placements: There are no placements or very few placements. The placement cell is closed after 2020 and is not open yet. Now, the placement cell has become a dance classroom. We have to find an internship, and no internship is provided by the university. Some companies' placements are provided by mail from the university to apply online and give interviews online and if selected then good. The package offered is not too high and if we are not selected, we have to find a company for a job on our own.
Infrastructure: It has good infrastructure. The road is very fine and strong. It has one of the biggest and oldest libraries in India, where the Rabindranath Tagore book is placed. It comes under the World Heritage Site. Wi-Fi is available all over the campus area. Some classrooms are old, and some are newly designed, which is very good. The canteen provides good quality food at a low price. Regular sports activities happen here. Labs are also available.
Faculty: The course curriculum is not updated from 1985 in Japanese. Teachers are qualified from big universities like JNU and from foreign universities. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes us industry-ready, and we will make extra effort for that from our side too. Exams are not too difficult if we study well. The pass percentage is approximately 85%.
