HBTU results for odd semester exams were declared on the official website of the University. Read this article for details.

Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) is a state technical university located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The University offers a total of 27 degree courses across numerous specialisations to its students at UG, PG and PhD level. HBTU follows the semester exam scheme (odd semester and even semester) for all the courses. These are conducted every six months. The first semester examinations are usually held between November and December, results for these are declared in the month of February (tentatively). The exam for the even semester commences in the month of April and May and the results are declared in the month of June (tentatively). The results are published only on the official website of the University.

HBTU Result 2020

HBTU has announced the odd semester exam results for all the UG and PG courses on its official website. The students can follow the steps mentioned below to check the HBTU Kanpur result 2020:

Step 1: Visit the official website of HBTU (https://hbtu.ac.in/)

Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and click on ‘Results’ tab

Step 3: Find the result link of the desired course and click on the same

Step 4: Enter the login credentials including your user name & password and hit the ‘Login’ button

Step 5: The semester score along with the result status will get displayed on the screen

Step 6: Candidates can now download the result or take a printout of the same for future reference

HBTU Evaluation 2020

The evaluation scheme of HBTU comprises of continuous assessment of the student throughout the semester. It is based on a predetermined system which includes semester exams/ sessional/ assignments/ viva and attendance. Students are evaluated out of 100 marks in each subject. It is mandatory for a candidate to secure 40 per cent marks in total (sessional + semester examination) to pass any particular subject. *Grades are awarded to a student based on his performance in all the subjects during the semester as mentioned in the table below:

*Students with attendance shortage are not allowed to appear for the end semester exam and are considered fail in every subject. Students with the award of grade ‘S’ are eligible for Make-Up Examination. Those students who leave the university in the middle of the semester are awarded 'W' grade while those students who withdraw their name from the university in the middle of the year are awarded 'I' grade.

Performance Evaluation:

The performance of a student is evaluated in three indices: SGPA, CGPA and YGPA. The CGPA is calculated based only on all pass courses ‘P and above grades’. The SGPA, CGPA and YGPA calculation process are mentioned below:

HBTU Make-Up and Carry-Over Examination 2020

Make-Up Examination: Those students who are not able to appear in semester examination for genuine reasons such as hospitalisation or representing the University in sports events or conferences are required to seek prior permission from their Head of the Department (HOD) for ‘Make-Up Examination’. These examinations are conducted one week before the end-semester examination and shall cover the whole syllabus till date

Carry-Over Examination: Students with ‘F’ grade in any subject are required to appear in the ‘Carry-Over Examination’ in the subsequent years. The sessional marks obtained by the student in the first attempt will be carry forwarded to the final tabulation of the Carry-Over exam.

HBTU Marksheet 2020

Students need to collect their marksheet from HBTU once the result is declared. The marksheet of HBTU consists of the following information:

  • Name of the University
  • Exam Name
  • Course Name
  • Year and Semester
  • List of Subject Names and Subject Code
  • Marks and grade scored in each subject
  • Overall Status (Pass/ Fail)

HBTU Revaluation 2020

For students who are not satisfied with their results of the current semester and want revaluation can fill the ‘HBTU Challenge Evaluation Form’ to get their answer book evaluated within one month from the date of the result declaration. The fee for the form is Rs 5000. A student can apply for revaluation challenge only if he/ she finds that the answer book has been wrongly evaluated.  In this, without considering previous marks, HBTU checks the copy of the student again. If the students’ revaluated score has more than 15 per cent hike from the initial score, the entire revaluation challenge fee paid by the student gets refunded.

Steps for challenge evaluation:

Step 1: Candidates need to visit the examination cell of HBTU and check for challenge evaluation eligibility criteria

Step 2: If eligible, obtain the application form and fill it carefully

Step 3: Attach the e-challan of Rs 5000 along with the application form

Step 4: Submit the application form at the HBTU exam cell
