SP Jain’s execution of the program involves simulations and many practical group exercises, says Anchita
SP Jain Global was always one of the most accredited schools. When I decided on EMBA without compromising my career, I was torn between IIM-K and SP Jain School of Global Management. When I visited the SP Jain School of Global Management campus, the witnessed a rich conversation on talent retention between one of the students and the faculty which left me impressed. SP Jain Global was also the only school offering in-person lectures at the time and I was sure it would be a very enriching experience to meet highly experienced batch mates and faculty, and I was absolutely correct. The discussions in the classroom were never theory, always had input from my classmates from their respective fields. Every topic was shown in different lights in different industries. I am glad I chose SP Jain Global over other schools.
The entrance test was challenging. The practice exams helped in the preparation. The interview following the written test was focused on the understanding of my job profile, my objective behind getting back to books and the value I can bring to the cohort which turned out to be a great mix of senior and middle management. To make it to EMBA course, one must be very prepared to be able to articulate how this course adds value to your career progression, value has to translate into immediate realization in your career by way of growth and maturity.
My cohort was an excellent group of excited folks who wanted to make full use of the college life. We never missed lectures, and had a lot of fun in participating in all group activities as a part of the curriculum. SP Jain’s execution of the program involves simulations and many practical group exercises. They serve excellent in polishing individuals for public speaking, brainstorming, effective participation in discussions, some healthy debates and overall learning. The experience turned me to a critical thinker, and pushed me to extract value out of daily activities. I understand the importance of being updated and invest in the knowledge no matter where I am in my career. We had some folks already in very senior management who were a part of our cohort proving that learning is always enriching.

Post the course, I am more articulative, collaborative and understand the value of team effort. I learnt a very important lesson in one of the classes by Dean Gary – Don’t be proud of the number of years you have spent in an organization, rather keep evaluating two aspects of your tenure every year
- Are you adding value to the organization anymore? What is the incremental benefit of your association from last year?
- Is the organisation adding the value to your career anymore? What did you learn over the previous year which is a skillset that keeps you relevant in your industry?
I think this will always stay with me and I look at my career differently now.
The program helped me tremendously in terms of networking. The classmates were only helpful to each other at every stage. I was able to find my next job within the Alumni of SP Jain; switched from a Start-up to Tech Mahindra Ltd and then Capgemini. I have more confidence in my skill set and a more detailed understanding of when an upgrade in my skillset is required. I am more focused on my personal growth along with my professional growth and the value I bring to the table. Overall, the program and my classmates helped me in becoming a sharper, focused and driven professional who has the resources to undertake challenging roles in her career.
