LPUNEST 2026 Exam Pattern: BTech

The LPU NEST 2026 will be conducted online. The LPU NEST question paper will include a total of 100 objective-type questions. There will be four sections, namely Physics, Chemistry, English, Maths (OR) Physics, Chemistry, English, Biology.  There will be twenty-five questions each in the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and English sections.

Q:   Is there any negative marking for the incorrect answers in LPU NEST?
A: 

Unlike other entrance exams, LPU NEST does not have negative marking. Candidates can attend all questions without fear of losing marks. This approach allows candidates to maximise chances of scoring well by making guesses or eliminating unlikely options.

Q:   What is the weightage of one question in LPU NEST?
A: 

There will be four marks given for each correct answer in exam. No marks will be reduced for incorrect answer. LPU NEST will be conducted for 500 marks. There will be 125 questions asked in exam. Since there is no negative marking candidates can answer all questions.

LPU NEST is conducted in online mode. LPU NEST can be attended by the candidate either from home as a remote proctored test, or they can attend from the test centres. If the candidate wants to take the test from home, they should make sure they have a stable internet connection.

LPU NEST 2026: Mode of Exam

LPU NEST is conducted in online mode. The exam can be taken either through remote proctored mode or at the exam centres. Candidates can choose the mode at the time of slot booking. 

Online Remote Proctored Mode

In this mode, candidates can take the exam from home or from any quiet place using a laptop with a stable internet connection. The exam is monitored through AI-based and live proctoring. The candidates' screen activity, webcam feed, and microphone are monitored for integrity. 

Online Test Centre Mode

The exam is conducted at the exam centre, with physical supervision, and all the technical requirements are provided by the centre. The question paper will be available in English. The question paper consists mainly of MCQs. For BTech programme, questions will also include fill-in-the-blank.

Q:   Is it enough to study from NCERT textbook to prepare for LPU NEST BTech exam?
A: 

While NCERT books are good for LPU NEST preparation, students must not study only NCERT. The candidates must refer to the LPU NEST syllabus provided on the official website and check different books for the topics given in the syllabus. Students can also refer to online materials for the different topics.
