15% of seats are under the supernumerary quota of DASA, out of which 5% supernumerary seats are reserved for children of Indian workers in the Gulf (CIWG). Candidates who will get admission to NITs and IIEST Shibpur under the CIWG category shall pay the tuition fee of INR 1,25,000 per annum, either in INR or equivalent USD.

The full form of DASA is Direct Admission of Students Abroad. It is an initiative commenced by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. It provides admission to Persons of Indian Origin living abroad (PIOs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf countries (CIWG), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) in the UG and PG programmes in the fields of Engineering, Architecture, Planning, etc. This year, the MoE has entrusted the coordination of the admission process under the DASA scheme to the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC).

No, candidates can not apply for BTech admission through DASA UG if they've not appeared in JEE Mains exam. It is mandatory to apply for JEE Mains and qualify the exam before appearing for DASA admissions.
