LPUNEST 2024 Exam Pattern: BTech

The exam will be conducted online and the question paper shall comprise of total 100 objective-type questions. There will be four sections namely Physics, Chemistry, English, Maths (OR) Physics, Chemistry, English, Biology.  There will be twenty-five questions each in the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and English sections.

Q:   What is the mode of the LPU NEST examination?

A:

LPU NEST is conducted as online exam. LPU offers the following choices for conducting the LPU NEST Exam. Students can select the most suitable option to take the exam: Online Remotely Proctored LPU NEST exam from the comfort of their homes Test Centre-Based Exam.

Q:   What is the marking scheme followed in the LPU NEST?

A:

The candidates are given 4 marks for each correct answer. There is no marks deducted for incorrect answers. The absence of negative marking provides a more favorable environment for candidates to attempt questions without the fear of losing marks. The absence of negative marking in LPU NEST encourages candidates to attempt all the questions, even if they are unsure about the answer.

Q:   What is the tie-breaker rule of the LPU NEST?

A:
That is a very interesting question. Well, the tie-breaker rule is if two or more than two candidates will obtain the same marks then the sum of the best two subjects' marks will be considered and the candidate with the highest marks will be given preference. If the tie does not resolve then the candidate with the highest marks in the single subject will be given preference. In case of the tie remains then the older candidate will get the preference.

Q:   Is there any negative marking for the incorrect answers in LPU NEST?

A:
Unlike other entrance exams, LPU NEST does not have negative marking. Consequently, candidates are not penalised for incorrect answers, resulting in a more favourable environment that encourages them to attempt questions without the fear of losing marks. This approach allows candidates to maximise their chances of scoring well by making guesses or eliminating unlikely options.

Q:   What is the total number of questions that will be asked in the LPU NEST?

A:

The examination will take place online, and the question paper will consist of a total of 100 multiple-choice questions. It will be divided into four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English (OR) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, English. Each section will contain 25 questions in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and English section.

There is no such cut-off provided by the university yet the parameters on which the cut-off depends upon the number of candidates, the number of vacant seats, marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test cut-off of last year. The LPU NEST examination will be graded on a total of 500 marks. The question paper consists of 125 questions, with each question carrying four marks. No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. LPU NEST does not follow a rank-based system as the exam does not have a specific date. Instead, the focus is on achieving the qualifying marks, which determine the scholarship reward. Scholarships are not offered for scores below approximately 35%. The highest scholarship is awarded for scores of 70% or above. The question paper is for a total of 500 marks.
