Shiv Nadar University introduces new scholarships; one for rural students

Shiv Nadar University has announced introduction of two new scholarships at undergraduate level from 2017-2018 session. The two new scholarships, Gifted Student Scholarship and Rural Student Scholarship, are merit based and need based.

With introduction of these two scholarships, the university will be spending Rs 35 crore in total towards scholarships.

Elaborating the idea behind these scholarships, Dr SN Balakrishnan, Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University said, “As a research-led and multidisciplinary university, our endeavor is to create an unparalleled academic ecosystem that develops the full potential of students – enabling them to become future leaders, equipped with excellent skill-sets and a sense of social commitment and responsibility. This year, we have launched specialized scholarship programs which are need-based as well as merit-based to attract the best talent and also offer opportunities of a world-class education to the most deserving underprivileged students.”

Gifted Student scholarship is a merit based scholarship under which the university will provide 100% tuition waiver. For this, the candidate will have to possess exceptional marks in the following exams:

  • National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) toppers holding ranks up to 1,000
  • The Indian National Olympiad holding top 5 – 10 ranks for each subject in Sciences and Mathematics
  • Top 10 rank holders in Class 12 from all education boards
  • INSPIRE fellows awarded Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)
  • JEE (Advanced) top 500 ranks
  • Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)

Eligible students will be directly called for personal interview on the basis of which the scholarship will be granted.

Under Rural Student Scholarship, students from weaker/rural background with exceptional talent can seek 100% waiver of tuition and hostel fee. The scholarship also includes loan for meeting living expenses to be repaid after completing graduation.

Yes, you can apply for more than one course in the same counselling round by listing them in order of your preference. If you get a seat that's not your first choice, you can choose to wait for the next round for a better option. Just make sure to update your preferences before each round.
