Over 50 percent students prefer one-on-one counselling for career planning, says Shiksha Poll

In a poll conducted by Shiksha.com, we asked students 'How would you prefer to receive guidance on career planning?'. 53% students voted for one to one counselling. Read more on opinion of other students.

How would you prefer to receive guidance on career planning? We created a poll on this and 53% percent students prefer one to one counselling. 19% students voted for online counselling, 11% students prefer group counselling, and 9% voted for career fair. Only 8% students voted that they do not need counselling. All the class 12 students will be busy now searching for the colleges, appearing various entrance exams, etc. Some will be confused about which course to take, which college to join etc. 

Students will get ideas about different career fields, jobs, and qualification through career counselling. Let us read more about students opinion on receiving guidance on career planning on this page.

One to one counselling: In one to one counselling students will be able to ask all their doubts, queries directly. Career counsellors will provide guidance and advise as per the needs of the students. They will be able to figure out the skills and interests of the students. They will help students to select colleges as per the skills of the students. 53 percent students like to have one to one counselling as per the Shiksha poll. One to one counselling helps students to get a clear understanding of various career options and to make decision. It will also boost their confidence to select their career. Mentors will give personalised action plans and support to help studnets to land on their dream career.

Career counselling

Online counselling: This is a convenient method for career guidance. Students can take career counselling sitting at the comfort of their home. There are so many platforms which provide personalized assessments, support and expert advice for students. Online counselling offer flexible time schedule, and personalised guidance for students. 19% students like to have online counselling according to Shiksha poll. 
Group workshop for career counselling: This is a cost effective way to get career guidance. A group workshop for career counseling is an organised event where students will participate in group discussions and activities to find career options, assess the skills and interests. In group workshops, career counsellors can connect with more number of students together, and thus it becomes cost effective for students. They can also interact with other students and share their ideas too and thus get more clarity about the courses. As per Shiksha poll, 11% students voted for group workshop. 

Career fair: Students will be able to connect with representatives from different colleges, universities etc at a career fair. They will receive idea about the colleges, courses and criteria. This will help them to explore career paths, opportunities in various fields, etc. 9% students voted for career fair.

8% students voted that they do not need any counselling. Now a days, many students are well aware of what couse to take, which college to join etc. Hope students will get complete idea about the courses and various career oppurtunities via career counselling.
