Karnataka Government introduced new Karnataka 2nd PUC revaluation criteria. Candidates can apply for 2nd PUC Results revaluation, even if it they have scored just one mark in their Pre-University exams, according to the announcement made by state Education Minister BC Nagesh. According to the new amendment, students can apply for revaluation even if their score is below 6 percent. Those who are unsatisfied with the marks obtained in Karnataka 2nd PUC result can apply for re-evaluation of the answer sheets through the official website of the state board after the Karnataka PUC Result declaration. For the same, students have to pay the application fees of INR 1,670 per subject to get answer scripts re-evaluated.

Karnataka 2nd PUC Passing criteria

Students must score at least 24 marks as passing marks in the 2nd PUC board examination, question paper of 80 marks. If a candidate does not appear for any short or mid-year examination and does not submit any projects and assignments, he/she will have to score 35 marks out of 80 to clear the 2nd PUC annual examination.

Karnataka PUC includes Science, Arts and Commerce stream. The subjects, which are divided across streams such as Science, Commerce and Arts include English Secondary Language, Biology Business Studies, Chemistry Computer Science, Economics, Electronics, Geography, Geology, Hindustani Music, History, Home Science, Karnataka Music, Logic, Physics Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics etc. Students have to choose two language subjects and four other subjects. Science stream students can opt PCMB, PCMC, PCME, etc. Commerce students can opt ABEM (Accounts, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics), ABEC (Accounts, Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science), ABSC (Accounts, Business Studies, Statistics Computer Science), etc.

2nd PUC Exam Pattern 2027 Karnataka: Total Marks and Marking Scheme

The Karnataka government released an order stating to consider 20 marks as internal for examination in subjects not having practical exams for first and second PUC from academic year 2023-24. As per the government order, 20 marks have to be recorded by the respective teachers to evaluate the students. 10 points will be given for internal evaluation based on first and second unit test and mid term exam. The best of the two marks from these examinations will be averaged to 10 points. The remaining 10 points valuation will be based on project and assignment marks at college level. Mark distribution is given below.

  • five marks for projects and writing
  • three marks for presentation 
  • two marks for viva voce.

The 20 internal marks will apply for core subjects like Maths, business studies, economics, languages and other core subjects. Meanwhile, (70+30) will continue for subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, electronics, computer science, home science, carnatic music and Hindustani music, and national skills qualification framework subjects like IT, automobile, retail, beauty and wellness. This order is applicable to first and second PUC students (regular) appearing for examination from 2023-24 academic year. However, repeaters and those students registered as private candidates will have to answer a 100 marks question paper.

By renaming the ‘supplementary exams’ as ‘exam 1, 2 or 3’, three opportunities will be given to the students which will improve their overall performance and positive attitude.
