Coimbatore Institute of Technology is an autonomous government-aided institute located in Coimbatore. It is affiliated with Anna University abd recognised by AICTE. It is also accredited by NAAC with 'A' Grade. CIT is also accredited by NBA. Coimbatore Institute of Technology was established by V Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust in 1956. It offers UG, PG, Integrated MSc and Doctoral programmes.

Admissions at CIT Coimbatore is entrance/ counselling based and is conducted by DOTE Chennai. CIT College accepts TNEA exam scores for BE/ BTech programmes, ME/ MTech and MCA admissions are based on GATE and TANCET examination followed by TANCA Counselling.
