B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
2.2
An average college.
Placements: The placement of mechanical students is not very good. Only 10–15 students are placed this year on campus placement grounds out of the 60–70. The mean package was 8 LPA. The top recruiting company is CAT (Caterpillar). I don't have information regarding internships. I am guessing very few internships.
Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms are Wi-Fi enabled, the classrooms have projectors, and there is a good library in the college. Mess food is medium. Games available are basketball, football, badminton, and table tennis, with athletics thrown up sometimes. There is a small medical facility.
Faculty: Depends on the teachers, but helpful in general, some are qualified and some are underqualified. Teaching has a lack of rigor in the courses. Theory is given less consideration; more consideration is given to solving problems that will come up in the exam. Semester exams are moderate, and the pass percentage is high.

The college has excellent faculty members and placements.
Placements: Amrita is very good at mechanical engineering. The top companies are recruiting; around 90% of mechanical students are placed. Top companies like Bosch, Infosys, Volvo, Tata, Dassault System, and the Indian Navy are the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: The college hostel and the food are very good. The highly equipped lab is useful for those who study mechanical engineering. The hostel and campus have Wi-Fi facilities. Classrooms are good, with projectors and Wi-Fi enabled on the whole campus and hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and helpful, and they explain things to us patiently and solve our doubts. The curriculum is good. The curriculum offers the required materials according to industry needs. The college is good in terms of academics. We will also get good industry exposure.

Good placements this year and overall, a good college.
Placements: The placement offers from the college are very good. 90%+ students get placed from the campus. Usually, the remaining students go for higher studies. Top companies like Google, Amazon, L&T and Infosys recruit students. In mechanical engineering, the average CTC is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the campus is very good with high tech modern labs. Wi-Fi is available but it is slow. Classrooms for computer and AI are sophisticated but for mechanical, they are normal. Every classroom has a projector. There is both an online library and an offline library. Both contain good resourceful books. Hostel is average with 3-4 persons per room. There is a ceiling fan, a shelf and a bed in the room. Food is vegetarian. It is not good, just average. There are medical facilities available near the hostel and the college. There is a sports complex which consists of basketball, volleyball, cricket, football and khokho courts.
Faculty: The teachers are good. If you have the right mind towards the subject, you can easily pass with a good CGPA. The curriculum change every 4-5 years. It is up to date and is relevant for your future. It helps the students when they get jobs in the industry. Semester exams are tough. Relative grading and continuous evaluation makes it a bit easier but if you want to pass, you have to study. Pass percentage is likely in the range of 60-70%.

I am satisfied with the campus.
Placements: Our campus is very much familiar with placements opportunities with many companies. All the students are placed with a minimum package of 8 LPA, and the highest salary package offered is 15 LPA every year. The average salary package offered is around 10 LPA. All the students get internships in many companies also they are paid.
Infrastructure: The facilities are very excellent in this college. The infrastructure is very excellent with full of greenery all around. Department is fully designed with an advanced mode of classes. The hostel facility is good, and the food is also very hygienic. Sports are good in this college. The medical facilities are excellent.
Faculty: The course curriculum is very relevant, and also makes students industry-ready. Teachers are helpful in various mini and major projects every semester which helps students to get practical knowledge also. The teaching quality is excellent. Semesters are difficult to pass. All students pass every year.
Other: The environment of this college is good and the facilities are excellent.

My college experience and campus life.
Placements: About 50 percent of our college students were placed in IT company with an average salary of three Lacs per annum the highest package received by our college student in mechanical department is 13 Lacs per annum offered by tata company and the lowest is offered by tata consultancy services.
Infrastructure: Facilities of our college is okay but the Wi-Fi is given only to the person who is having a laptop and also for a limited period. Library is good Labs and classrooms are excellent condition infrastructure is very nice with a very good atmosphere. The hostel facilities and food is not good.
Faculty: Faculty are too friendly and are very interactive with the students. They are very qualified lecturers with impeccable knowledge. Most of the lecturers having a Ph.D. degree. Strict to the syllabus Very good characters. Everyone interacts with the students nicely.

It is neither the greatest nor the worst.
Placements: I am still in my first year, so the information I am providing regarding the placements is solely details that I came to know from my seniors. Placements for CSE branch are amazing, but it is not that great for the other branches. Few core companies visit the campus here for recruitment of mechanical branch students. Even then, the college promises 100% placement as there are ample placement opportunities in the IT sector. For CSE branch, a lot of top companies like Google, IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, etc., visited the college for recruitment. Moreover, they have recruited many students offering amazing salary packages ranging from 15 LPA to more than 70 LPA. There is a placement cell called CAIR (corporate and industrial relations) which takes looks after everything related to placements and internships.
Infrastructure: Overall the infrastructure of the college is satisfactory. The entire campus Wi-Fi enabled and it is named Amrita Connect. It has a pretty decent speed most of the time, and I usually get around 300kbps on my laptop. Classrooms aren't that good. They have a speaker system for the teachers to use in all classes, but most teachers don't use them. There is no air-conditioning facility in most classrooms. Labs are fine, especially related to computer. There is equipment which is not that old in most labs. Most labs are air-conditioned, especially computer related labs. Canteen is sub-par and the food served here isn't that good. Hostel rooms are quite congested for the first year boys as there are four students in a room with bunker beds. There are four shelves, one for each student. One positive thing is that the attached bathroom for the first years though maintaining cleanliness is our responsibility. Throughout the college and the hostel, there are drinking water dispensers with cold and hot water. One drawback is that the first year boys hostel is in the ashram, and it is a 20 minutes walk every day to reach the college.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are not as great as the college claims to be. There are a lot of teachers who are not as qualified. However, some teachers are well qualified. I can't give a full picture when it comes to teachers as I am only in the first year). The student to faculty ratio for mechanical is around 50:1, but for CSE branch, it is up to 65:1.
Other: The campus life isn't that great. The college fests and events get cancelled a lot of time. Eventually this year, the college fest named Vidyut was conducted, and the fest was organised after a gap of 5 years. It was a pretty nice fest considering the fact it was conducted after a such a long gap. There are two amazing clubs for CSE branch, Foss and Bios, which makes CSE in Amritapuri as one of the most sought courses even more than CSE in the Coimbatore campus. There are a few clubs for arts, music, and dance, but they are not that active. There are no proper clubs for the mechanical branch. However, there are quite a few teams which participate in mechanical related competitions even though there is not much support from the college.

It is a good place to only study. Placement opportunities and faculty are good.
Placements: Placement opportunities provided by the college are good. Most of the students get placed. There is a separate department that handles placements and trains all the students. Core companies visiting for mechanical engineering are very less. However, most of the students get placed in IT companies. In 2019, the highest salary package offered for the mechanical department was 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good with huge libraries and classrooms. Labs facilities are up to the mark. There are many hostels to accommodate students. Food served in the mess is horrible, and not even worth a penny. Food served in the canteen is also not that good. Hostel rooms are fine.
Faculty: Faculty members of the college are well-qualified and very much supportive. Their teaching techniques are well-understood, and several projects and assignments are assigned regularly. Two mid-term exams and semester exams are conducted. Industrial visits are encouraged, and workshops are also held on the campus.
Other: Most of the festivals are celebrated in the college. But there is no major college fest conducted for some years. The college life is not much enjoyable as there are some strict rules. However, the campus has a very peaceful environment. Kalolsavam is held in the college every year.

One of the best University.
Placements: Placements for my batch is somewhat less compared to the previous batch, and every year nearly 80% of the students will get placed. The highest package is 14.5 Lacs per annum the lowest package is 2.3 Lacs per annum Average salary offered is 4 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very good and neat and labs are fully equipped, for my batch (mechanical) there are 12labs with full of machines. There is a central library in our college and it is also available in online. Wi-Fi facility is available in both College and hostel with average speed. We have hospital in our hostel with ambulance service. Quality of food is good but the taste in not good as they all are in Kerala style, we need to adjust ourselves near food.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and helping in nature, they are well qualified and have good knowledge. Most of the teachers have Ph.D. qualification and a few others have M.Tech degree. The teaching methods are very good and we won't get industry exposure, industry exposures are very less. Student to faculty ratio is nearly 100/22.
