Why UIET Kurukshetra Feels Like the Right Place for My Engineering Studies
One of the main reasons I chose the University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kurukshetra University, was that it is in my hometown. This allows me to go home whenever I want and complete my studies without leaving my friends and family behind. Moreover, UIET not only focuses on theoretical knowledge; rather, it also provides practical skills. The college offers a stress-free environment, particularly during exams, which enables students to focus on their studies to full potential.
The college boasts excellent teachers, particularly in the areas of technology and communication. The instructors are committed to helping students advance their theoretical and practical skills and are well-informed. The labs are equipped with the newest technology and equipment.
Why I Chose ECE Over CSE
Despite being a popular choice among students, Computer Science Engineering (CSE) has been somewhat overhyped because of the fierce competition and limited number of available positions. In contrast, the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is primarily focused on hardware and electronics. There is an increasing demand for qualified professionals who can design and construct processors, microchips, and communication systems due to the rapid advancement of technology. I aim to play a role in developing the next generation of microprocessors as an ECE student.
The participating institutes of JEE Main are the colleges that participate in the JoSAA counselling for admission in various Engineering, Architecture and Planning courses. Besides JEE Main participating institutes, many colleges offer admission based on the scores of JEE Main but are not a part of JoSAA. Such institutes organise their counselling process for admission.
There are a total of 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 19 other GFTIs that participate in JoSAA counselling. The number of seats in these institutes can be checked below. Other institutes which offer admission based on JEE Main scores are from the states which do not conduct their entrance exams for engineering admission and include U.P., Bihar, M.P., Delhi, among others.
My Journey Through the UIET Admission Process via HSTES Counselling
UIET has a competitive and open admissions process. The Haryana State Technical Education Society's (HSTES) online counseling system, which is based on the To be admitted to this college, I had to appear for the JEE Main exam and secure a reasonable score. I then participated in the HSTES online counseling, where seats are assigned based on individual preference and merit. Two merit lists are released by HSTES. If there are any unfilled seats following the online rounds, UIET organises offline counselling, providing students with an additional opportunity to secure admission based on their rank and seat availability. I invested significant time and energy in preparing for the JEE Main, fully aware that achieving a high score would pave the way for attending a distinguished institution such as UIET.
Campus Life at UIET: A Blend of Academics, Music, and Memories
My day at UIET starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Throughout the day, there are classes, labs, and occasional guest lecturers. These guest lectures, which are a vital part of the college experience, include industry specialists sharing their thoughts on the latest advancements in engineering and technology. They explain the connections between developments and issues in the real world and our theoretical knowledge.
Beyond academics, UIET offers a vibrant campus life. There is a musical band on campus. Whenever I get some free time, I enjoy jamming with students. I am a tabla player. So, I add some rhythmic beats to those jamming songs, which makes the session more enjoyable. These jam sessions help us build strong bonds with our college mates who have similar interests. The college also organises various events throughout the year, like Pratispardha (a sports fest), Excelsior, a national-level technical cultural fest, etc., which provide opportunities to showcase my skills.
