Review of City College, Kolkata.

Placements: I took admission in B.Sc in bio-science course in City College in the year 2015 under University of Calcutta. As City College is based on academic courses like arts, commerce and science, there was no scope for placements. None of the students got placed for a job from our course. The average course fee in our college is around Rs. 3,500-7,000 per year. It varies based on the courses. For students who are from a science background, the course fee is little more than the fee of students who have chosen arts. The average course fee is Rs. 5,000 per year. None of the students from our course got internships from our college.

Infrastructure: There are lots of facilities in this course in our college. High-speed Wi-Fi is available for students. In B.Sc bio-general course, there is a well-furnished practical lab with enough practical instruments. City College is almost 140 years old, so classrooms are of an old pattern. Our college library is updated half-yearly, and it is well stocked. There are no hostel facilities. The food served in the canteen is quite expensive, but they maintain hygiene. There is a comfortable environment for study, and there is no crowd in the college area.

Faculty: In our course, there are top-educated faculty members with good communication skills and behaviour. Both theory and practical classes are treated equally and carefully. Teachers are very helpful and help us every time whenever needed. They are highly qualified, and most of them have experience of more than 15 years. This course curriculum is relevant for students who will opt for further higher studies. It provides the base for M.Sc. This course does not make students ready for the industry.

Other: I passed out in the year 2018, and I had a smooth experience. I enjoyed my study throughout the course duration. My batchmates helped me every time when I did not attend college due to illness. They provided me notes and other important things. I chose this course because I like to study life science in secondary education and biology in higher secondary level education. The best thing about this course is that there were many things to do which were related to medical science like measuring the blood pressure of the human body, measurement of a healthy diet for adults like minors, women, etc. Placements need to be improved in this course. Every year, the fest is organised in our college ground, and renowned vocalists will visit here every year. Apart from this, Saraswati Puja is celebrated every year joyously. The field excursion will be organised every year for B.Sc students in the category of extracurricular activities. Scholarships are not provided by the college authority.

An average College at low fees.

Placements: There is no support about placements or internships. You will not receive any help about this from college. So placements is very poor. Zero percent students get placements every year. Not a single student even the topper doesn't get any help. So don't expect anything.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi available but connection is very slow. Sometimes it doesn't work. Classrooms are dirty & non AC. Library is full of old stuff, nothing new. No medical facilities at all, no sports & games. The quality of labs isn't that good. Canteen food is average quality.

Faculty: The faculty members are helpful, but lazy. Qualified. Teaching quality is average. They use different teaching methods, student to faculty ratio is 100:1. no industry exposure. Course curriculum wasn't that much useful. Overall the quality is average.
