It is an average college.
Placements: About 20% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is 7.2 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 6 LPA. Companies won't visit our college. Internships depend on students. There are many freelancing sites where anyone can do internships. There are many seminars arranged by our college where students can participate and gain experience.
Infrastructure: We have 9 physics laboratories, including a general and computer laboratory. There are essential apparatuses for performing experiments. Our college provides average facilities and infrastructure. There is no hostel in our college. Students can stay at the Calcutta University hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and very knowledgeable. They are very helpful to students. They are very polite and friendly. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. There is career counseling in our college. Semester exams are average. The pass percentage is about 80%.
Other: I opted for this course because I want to go into the research field. The career counseling process should be better. Many events and fests are organised by the student union and college authorities every year.

I’m not satisfied. The quality of education was average to below average. Placement was very low.
Placements: 0% students in our course were placed. There was an inactive placement cell in our college. But I remember, in the final year, 2-3 companies offered internships and jobs to us. But unfortunately, no one was selected. The highest package was 30,00,00 per annum. The lowest was probably 1,80,000 per annum. Students' Career Counselling and Placement Sub-Committee, City College and Adela Infotech Services collaborated and organised a job drive.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was average. There was a dedicated computer lab for Computational Physics practical, and there were several labs for other experiments. The lab's infrastructure was average compared to other colleges in Kolkata. There was no available Wi-Fi for students. Unfortunately, City College does not have its own hostel. But students admitted to the city college are also enrolled in the University of Calcutta. Therefore, they can avail themselves of the hostel facilities of Calcutta University. There was a lack of space for outdoor games. But there were several indoor game facilities. The canteen was average to good. There was a first aid system.
Faculty: Faculty members were quite knowledgeable, but they were not helpful at all. Very few teachers were helpful. But being honest course and curricula were not made for industry purposes, rather it's made for academia or academy-related jobs. Semester exams were moderately difficult. But the assessment of the answer scripts were enough difficult as exams, and the assessment was conducted by the University of Calcutta, not the college itself. Only internal/tutorial exams were held in the college. Pass percentage is 30%, but for honors it must be atleast 40%.
Other: I chose that course because I wanted to learn Physics and to make a career in academia, not in industry. I think the faculty members should be more helpful, and the college office staff were the worst. There were freshers and farewell, college social and other cultural programmes and activities organised by the college and the department. There were all government scholarships available and scholarship-related camps organised on a regular basis.
