Commonly asked questions
On Admissions
Q:   What is the last date for admission at DAV College Chandigarh?
A:

The last date for 2024 admission at DAV College Chandigarh has not been released yet. To be eligible for the UG and PG courses at the DAV College, the candidates must have completed class 12 and graduation respectively with a minimum of 50 % from any recognized institute.

Q:   Can I take admission in DAV College Chandigarh, without CUET in BBA?
A:

As of today, March 21, 2024, it's unlikely that DAV College Chandigarh requires CUET (Central Universities Entrance Test) for admission to the BBA program. Here's why:

  • CUET Focus: CUET is currently mandated for admissions to undergraduate programs in central universities only. DAV College Chandigarh is likely a state-affiliated college, so it wouldn't necessarily follow CUET guidelines.
  • Traditional Admission Process: State-affiliated colleges like DAV College Chandigarh typically have their own admission processes, often based on merit in your 10+2 qualifying exam scores.
Q:   Is a CAT score of 85 percentile good for admission to MBA at DAV College Chandigarh?
A:

The aspirants who score CAT percentile in a range of 80-90 must not worry as there are many colleges accepting CAT score 80-90 percentile. It is also a good CAT score, and most MBA colleges do not pre-announce the cutoff. If you score 80 percentile in the CAT exam, you can expect good B-schools for admission. If you are aiming for the top 6 IIMs, then you must score 99 percentile for even getting shortlisted for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). However, for other top MBA colleges 90-95 percentile is good. A majority of CAT test takers fall in the category of 80-90 percentile.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2025

Enjoyable B.Com journey with good academics, but infrastructure needs improvement.
Placements: I completed my B.Com Degree in 2025 from DAV College, Chandigarh. Being a part of the 2022-2025 batch, I would say that my overall academic and professional experience is quite good. In our course, around 65-70% of the students are placed through campus placements. The highest package offered is around 8LPA, and the average is around 4-5LPA. Some of the top companies that recruited are ICICI Bank, Wipro, KPMG, Infosys, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities of the Commerce department were quite average due to frequent electricity fluctuations. The Wi-Fi facility is also quite decent as it did not provide adequate speed. The library is well-maintained with air conditioning, and borrowing is also a very easy process.
Faculty: The teachers are quite helpful, qualified, and approachable. The curriculum of the degree is relevant and covered important topics, but I feel that more industry-focused case studies could make it even better. As for the semester exams, they were of moderate difficulty, but with regular class notes and study, most students managed to score well.
Other: I chose this course because I'm interested in commerce and finance and DAV college had a good reputation providing strong academic support with placement opportunities. The best thing about my B.Com course is that it gives a strong foundation in subjects like accounting, business law, economics, and taxation, which are helpful if you want to pursue MBA, CA, or CS. That being said, I think there are a few things that can definitely improve. The courses could include practical workshops, more industry exposure, etc., which are helpful for one's future. Life on campus is lively, and the events and fests like annual youth fests, cultural programs, etc., made college life enjoyable and gave us opportunities beyond studies.

Diploma in Journalism - Batch of 2025

5Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Well-structured journalism course with strong practical training and decent campus facilities.
Placements: Around 70% of students got placed from our journalism course. The highest package offered is 5.5 LPA, the lowest is 1.8 LPA, and the average package stood at 3 LPA. Top recruiters include NDTV, Dainik Bhaskar, The Indian Express, and Zee Media. Nearly 60% of students secured internships in companies like India Today, The Quint, and News18. The top roles offered are reporter, content writers, copy editor, social media executive, and digital journalism.
Infrastructure: The journalism department offers well-equipped classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, a media lab, and a resourceful library. Hostels are clean with basic amenities. The mess serves hygienic food, and the canteen offers affordable snacks. Medical facilities are available on campus, and students have access to sports grounds and indoor games for recreation.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable, offering practical insights alongside theory. The curriculum is industry-relevant, covering core journalism skills and digital media trends, making students job-ready. Semester exams are moderately challenging but fair. The pass percentage is around 85%-90%, reflecting strong academic support and student performance.
Other: I chose the diploma in journalism because of my passion for storytelling, media, and a desire to build a career in the communication industry. The best part of the course is its practical exposure, with real-time assignments, media labs, and industry-focused curriculum. However, I wish there were more guest lectures and field visits to gain deeper insights into newsroom functioning. The campus has a friendly crowd, decent infrastructure, and regular events and fests that keep the environment vibrant. Public transport connectivity is good, and scholarships are available for deserving students. Extracurricular activities add to overall student development and creativity.

Reality of DAV College Chandigarh.
Placements: Above 70 percent of students were present in my class, and there are no placements in this college. Placement opportunities will be available for other courses offered in this college, and the placements are average. Many companies visit the college often and pick the best students.
Infrastructure: The canteen is good, and the food is tasty. AC is not available in all classes, but the classroom conditions are good. Sports and games are included, and students can participate in competitions. Medical facilities are also available and good. The food quality is good, but the prices are somewhat high.
Faculty: The faculty are good at teaching and are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Semester exams are easy to pass and not very difficult; many students pass the exams very easily. Faculty are friendly by nature, and you can interact with them easily to clear your doubts.

DAV is a nice college with different types of people around and nice facilities.
Placements: The placement opportunities were not much, but about 65% of students got placed. The highest salary package was 12 LPA for government jobs. No companies were recruiting for a B.A. Most internships were offered in call centres and other places. The B.A. is mainly an undergraduate course which do not apply for the placements in the company, it is the pathway for people to do things in the future.
Infrastructure: There were all kinds of facilities available, like nice rooms, labs, classrooms, and a library. The mess and canteen facilities were very nice, but there was no medical facility available. Some sports facilities were nice, like cricket. There were good-quality books found in the library, and different librarians interacted with each other. The infrastructure of the college was very nice. Different college students love to come to Dav College, and the quality of food in the mess and canteen was nice, and different types of food and dishes were there. The college was very good at different kinds of games.
Faculty: The teaching quality was decent, neither too good nor too bad. Some teachers were helpful, and some were not. This course opens the pathway for students to gain knowledge in different fields. The college exams were decent, and the passing percentage is 33%. Exams were decent in the college, with a proper strictness. The course of B.A. made students ready for PG courses that may help in finding nice placements.
Other: B.A. is a UG course that helps us to know more about the field. There was scope for getting more jobs and prominent seats. A lot of events and club meetings happened in the college. There was a lot of crowd and a nice environment. Different kinds of scholarships were available, including NSS.

College is the best in Chandigarh.
Placements: 30% of students got placements. The highest package was 10 LPA. 40% of students got internships but mostly students did not get any opportunity for jobs which may be their fault on campus. Overall, the college is the best and I will recommend it to everyone.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of college was best. But one thing there was no proper drinking water. The classrooms were neat and clean but there were no ACs in the classrooms. Even in the college canteen which was very disappointing. There must be ACs in classroom and canteen.
Faculty: Teachers were very helpful. They even helped students off duty too. The curriculum was very good, it made us industry-ready. There were total four exams in 2 semesters, one of class test and another one was at university level. The passing percentage was 30%.
