B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2021
3.2
Review of DIT - Dream Institute Of Technology.
Placements: Almost 20 to 30% of the students got placements from this college. The average salary package offered in the mechanical branch is 1.7 LPA to 2 LPA. No such top recruiting companies visit this college. Very few students wish to do internships due to small companies. Usually, supervisor posts are offered.
Infrastructure: The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, but it is restricted to faculty members only. Students have to pay extra for Wi-Fi. The college is well-built with sufficient and beautiful classrooms, and the office building is centrally air-conditioned system enabled. Labs are average. Hostel facilities are available here, but the food quality is just average type. A football ground is located inside the campus.
Faculty: Faculty members of our college are not highly qualified or experienced. You have to be self-sufficient to pass the exam. The course is offered by MAKAUT, and the current MAKAUT curriculum does not make students industry-ready. Semester exams are not tough, and if you are self-reliant, you can pass the exams easily.
Other: I joined this college as there is no such burden for attendance. It would be better if management clears things before admission, like what we are going to pay in due course. You have to pay the fee of Rs. 1,000 to 1,500 every year, and again you have to pay a large amount for training, project work, placements, etc. The campus is 10-12 km away from DH road, and you have only two buses and some autos for travel.

Review of Dream Institute of Technology (DIT).
Placements: I am currently pursuing the course so I don't know much about placements. But our seniors said that our college provides placement 100%. High salary packages are offered to top students, and average salary packages are offered to average students.
Infrastructure: Classrooms in our college are good, and electricity facilities are always available. There is huge parking. Labs are also good. The canteen is also available and it is affordable and clean. There is a block-wise building. Department also separates. Washrooms are also net and clean. Overall it is better than other colleges.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful and friendly. Online test through knowledge lab is running currently because of lockdown. All the faculty members are well-educated. I am in mechanical engineering so I can say about mechanical only. Pre-exam tests and assignments are easy to do.

Review of DIT - Dream Institute Of Technology.
Placements: I am from the mechanical engineering department, and placements of this department are very good. Most of the seniors are placed in renounced companies with an average salary package of 4 LPA. Every year most of the students from mechanical engineering got placed. Our college also provides 4 months of training for placements and also provide communication classes in 4th year for better communication skills.
Infrastructure: Lab set up of this college is very good, and the IC engine and fluid mechanics labs are the best in the university. Nowadays most commonly used machine which is CNC machines are also available. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The most interesting is the DIT central library which has 15,000 books, and students will get books free of cost in every semester. If they want a reference book, then they will get by their library cards. Maximus classrooms are air-conditioned. All machines like lathe, shaping, milling, etc., are available here. For welding, forging is also an attractive setup, and there are all systems for safety. The dream hostel is very neat and clean. There is only one hostel building, but for every year student, there are different floors. The hostel is also Wi-Fi enabled. Hostel cost is very low although the facilities are very good as compared to other colleges under WBUT. About 4 students will stay in a room, and for every student, they have a different bed, lockers, study tables and chairs. Bathroom and washrooms are cleaned every day, and they have different filter cum water cooler for drinking water. The playfield is very good, and all outdoor games can be played. For indoor games, they also have a different room, and for discussion purposes for any matter, there is a seminar hall.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members of this college have done PhD from a renowned university, and they are very helpful. In every week they conduct 4 classes and one class for revision and one for doubt clearing. The most important necessities of every lab are understood by faculty members. Before every semester exam, a pre-test is also organised for better performance. The course is highly relevant, and the curriculum activities are very helpful for students to get jobs.
Other: I have chosen this course because I have a lot of interest in machines and machine tools from childhood. In this college, all machines are available for students to gain experience, and there are also digital classrooms. Every year fest is organised by DIT like Sun Burn campus, DJ nights, and also many renowned singers and actress like Shreya Ghoshal, Silajit Majumder, Anupam Kher visited here. Entrepreneurship weeks are also organised here every year with tech fest. All sets in every department are fulfilled.

It is one of the best colleges in Kolkata with great lab facilities.
Placements: I am from the mechanical engineering department. In our department placements are good. Most of our seniors got placed in various MNCs with good salary package. The average salary package offered is 4 LPA. Our college also provides training. Almost all the branch students get placed.
Infrastructure: The mechanical workshop is good. All the students get proper skills from good teachers. Labs are very good, very clean, well-maintained and all instruments are available. The library is very clean and well-maintained by the staff members. There is also a professional conference room for the students.
Faculty: All the faculty members are student-friendly. They are very helpful and skilled. They are educated by various renowned universities. They teach students in friendly manners and give their 100%. They also provide extra classes if needed. The course curriculum is made by WBUT, and they make the students industry-ready.
Other: When I visited the college, I saw workshop labs which increased my interest in choosing a mechanical engineering course. I wish the college should improve the theory section in the mechanical course, and I want to increase the project section of course. Our college organises Sunburn and various events like Valentine, tech-fest, etc. The campus crowd is good, and the college is about 5-6 km from Thakurpukur Metro. The campus is very good. They also provide various scholarships for the students. The college organises various extracurricular activities like a hackathon, quiz competition and Robo race robotics.

The placements are not satisfactory , but the college is good for faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: In the year 2016, our college was unable to provide the job for students. In case of placements, our college is not good for the students of every stream. So, my suggestion for the new aspirant is to ignore our college, because, in today's era, we have many options for the students to admit a good college.
Infrastructure: Though the placements were not satisfactory, our college has a good infrastructure. It is located in the urban area of Thakurpukur, Kolkata. Within the college campus, we have one cricket ground, one football ground, and most of the indoor game facilities. College library is situated in such a big area where all the students can read together. College campus is under CCTV surveillance. We have free Wi-Fi facilities for students.
Faculty: We shouldn't raise a question about the quality of our faculty. They are knowledgeable and experienced. Most of the faculty are skilful and motivate the students. Sometimes, they used to help us to find out a job from their own sources. They are always helpful for the students in any situation.

Overall our college is good. I don't know about other branches, but our mechanical branch is good.
Placements: Overall the placements are good. Placements are always don't depend on college; sometimes it also depends on the student's skills. Good companies and industries come to the campus for the placements with very good salary packages. Navaranta company also came to our college. Our college invites industries and companies to organize job fairs; core companies also come to the campus. Our senior batch got good placements Around 70% of the students got the jobs. I don't know about the lowest salary package, but one senior got a salary package of 7.8 LPA.
Infrastructure: DIT campus is huge. It has 7 blocks. The Wi-Fi facility is free. The classrooms are good, clean and big. There is a big library. There are two places to read books, one is for the students, and other is for the faculty members. Honestly, mechanical labs are super because there are nine labs only for mechanical engineers and all types of machines are available. Our faculty members always care about our lab that is why the labs are superb. There is one medical room, and every lab has medical facilities. There is one huge playground, and another one is under construction. Our campus is an anti-ragging area, so there are no problems between seniors and juniors, students from 1st year to 4 the year play after the college together. Our canteen food is good sometimes, sometimes it's average. In our campus, there are two buildings for the hostel purpose. One is for boys and one is for girls. I am a boy, so I don't know about girls hostel, but boys hostel is big, outsiders and girls are not allowed, and the hostel warden is good. He always maintains discipline. Now I am in 3rd year, and I never face any kind of issue in our college.
Faculty: I don't know about other branches, but honestly, mechanical faculty members are good and helpful. Our teachers are highly educated so we learn from them and update our technical skills. I believe our mechanical engineers need practical knowledge more than theoretical knowledge so whenever I am free I go to the lab and our faculty members are helpful and always help us.
Other: In every weel, one day we celebrate an event that is e-day to upgrade the students. Then some teachers show videos, give lectures about many things like soft skills, entrepreneurship, motivational speech, etc. We celebrate e-week which is a one week programme. Then 7 days we organize many events. Our college organises freshers day to welcome the juniors, and to interact with seniors. We also organize Teachers Day. We organize fest. This year, one month ago we organise fest. This year we hosted SUNBURN in our college, that is a huge event. Dj Teri Miko and Akad also came. Our fest lasts for two days. The first day was for SUNBURN, approximately 1500-1600 students and outsiders come. The second day was college programme, approximately 850-1000 students come. The campus is good; there are many gardens. Poor, intelligent, SC, ST, and OBC students get scholarships every year. Our college faculty members also motivate the students for extracurricular activities such as poster making, magazine writing, dancing singing games, etc.
