B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.4
One of the top five engineering college in Kerala.
Placements: I am from mechanical engineering branch. In mechanical engineering branch, most of the placement offers are from it related companies like ibs, etc. Around 90% of applied students get placement in various companies but number of placement offers from mechanical core company are low there will be an average package of around 3.6 Lacs per annum. Placement offers from Top companies includes SADA, FEDERAL BANK, TATA, IBS, MAHINDRA etc.
Infrastructure: The college is just 7 acres which is very small area as compared to other government college. But The college is situated on centre of the Kerala capital city 'TRIVANDRUM'. There is Wi-Fi connection throughout the college and hostel. There is various department labs and classroom and a good library 2 Ladies hostel are situated on college campus but there is not hostel for means.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, friendly and knowledgeable All teachers have minimum Ph.D. qualification The course curruculam is very relevant. The College Follows the rule and course curriculum of the Kerala technical Most of the years our college becomes first or second position in ktu colleges in pass percentage .

A quiet campus tucked away in the heart of Trivandrum city.
Placements: Almost all the students who have cleared their backlogs have been placed. However, most of the placements are from IT companies. The Core companies in other branches range from rarely to None. There is hope for the future branches as the placement cell is improving considerably.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are spacious and large. They are equipped with smart boards and projectors. The desks and benches are mostly in good condition. A new block is being constructed. When completed, the college can boast of an incredible campus even in its very limited space. Men's hostel is non-existent in this college and the boys have to take up accommodation in nearby PGs or hostels. The college severely lags on the front. There is no dedicated ground for any sports. The auditorium doubles up as a volleyball court, a cricket net and a mini football ground.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are knowledgeable and teach effectively. The syllabus taught is as per the KTU regulations. The relevance of the course taught is debatable. However, there are many positive parts of the curriculum. The exams are conducted all over Kerala and are relatively difficult.

If you are looking for good friends and academics, this will be a good choice.
Placements: Don't expect core company placement. Only IT companies are coming. Average Salary: INR 25–35 per month Almost all the students who attended the placement got jobs. If you know basic coding skills, that's just enough to get into placement classes provided by colleges. YouTube will be helpful.
Infrastructure: No boys' hostel is there. There are two girls' hostels available, with more than enough seats for the girls. No playground is available. But lab and classroom infrastructure are inadequate. Lab staff are good at helping. The lab exam is not so tough. Almost all machines are in working condition.
Faculty: Qualified faculty, but they are not interested in teaching. Only self-study will help you. A good peer group is available, so it will be helpful. The syllabus is not a big task; previous year's questions, the KTU notes website, and seniors will help you get good marks.
Other: Good campus life, but SFI politics is very bad.

It's a good college but needs to improve its placements.
Placements: Around 50-60% of students were placed in various top MNCs, and students are offered top roles in their respective companies. Salary packages range from 3 Lacs per annum to 9 Lacs per annum. Almost all the students secured internship opportunities via workshops, and some of them were able to secure their internship opportunities in their first year of their course itself.
Infrastructure: The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and smart televisions are available in each classroom along with projectors and screens. There is a large technical library in our college. A canteen is available which provides decent quality food. There are 2 ladies' hostels on campus. As I heard, decent quality food is provided in the hostel mess.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and provide good quality teaching. The course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Our college has above 95% pass percentage, and semester examinations are easy due to good quality teaching.
Other: I want to become a mechanical engineer as I am interested in it. Our main campus event is Aagneya, and it is one of the gorgeous events.

The college is one of the best in academic matters and has a highly efficient faculty.
Placements: Around 60-70% of students in our college were placed in various companies like MRF, TCS, Infosys, and many more. The salary packages offered to us range from 3 LPA to 12 LPA based on talent and exposure to the field. Almost everyone who completed the course was able to find some internship opportunity or another. Major roles were offered by the recruiting companies to the students. The placement cell is one of the best in Kerala government colleges.
Infrastructure: All other facilities are provided by the college except for a men's hostel, which they are currently working on. There are ladies' hostels, and almost every female student gets a place there without much trouble. A Wi-Fi facility is available throughout the campus and the speed is also reasonable. Classrooms are well-equipped and lab facilities are great, except for the physics and chemistry labs for the first years. The canteen food is nice. Sports and games for interested students are also available, though that's not a standout feature of our college.
Faculty: We have an excellent faculty. Regular classes and exams are conducted whenever they should be, except for the occasional strikes, which are a part of every government college. The quality of teaching is really good, and teachers put a lot of effort into teaching and doing everything for the best interests of the students. The course curriculum is relevant compared to all other colleges, and semester exams aren't that difficult if you prepare enough for them.
Other: There are so many clubs and student bodies like ASME, IEEE, CSI, and IEDC that are highly active and help add a lot of technical skills and practical knowledge to the students. The college fest, popularly called "aagneya," is one of the best techno-cultural fests in any college in the state. Seniors are friendly and helpful, and the environment is peaceful.

It is a really good option if you truly want to study and explore.
Placements: Most of the students get placed here because we are studying in one of the best colleges in Trivandrum. Well-reputed companies like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, IBS, RM, etc., offer many placement opportunities to bright students. Most of the students got placed in IT, electrical and electronics branches, while only a few placement opportunities are available for the mechanical and civil departments.
Infrastructure: The campus is medium in size. It has well-maintained infrastructure and facilities like labs, library etc. We have Wi-Fi facilities and smart classes that enable digital learning and make learning easier. There are hostel facilities for girls, but not for boys. They have to rent a house or go for paying guest. Our college has a good canteen with hygienic food at moderate prices.
Faculty: We have very dedicated and worthy teachers who help students understand the subject to their core level. But some exceptional cases are also there, as they just read the powerpoint slides and go. The curriculum is not relevant according to me, because we are learning machines and things of 90's which is of no use now. The semester exams in our college are moderate. One who attends the classes regularly can easily crack it.
Other: Our college conducts different events like Inspire, Aagnaya etc. We also have ASME, IEEE, NSS, etc., which increases the technical knowledge of students. We can avail lots of scholarship facilities here.

I am satisfied with the college faculty members, teaching method, facilities and good placements.
Placements: 60% of students got placed. The highest package offered was 10 to 12 Lacs per annum. The top recruiting companies are Mahindra and Mahindra, MRF, L&T, TCS, Infosys, Mercedes Benz, and UST Global. Around 30 students got placed in TCS, Mahindra, Infosys and L&T.
Infrastructure: We have smart classes. Good infrastructure is available with all the necessary equipment and full-time access to Wi-Fi. A huge library is available with proper maintenance and a comfortable atmosphere. The classrooms are spacious. We have only a girls' hostel, and boys have to go to private hostels. We have a canteen. We don't have a college ground for sports activities.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified and have good knowledge of the subject. They are helpful. The course curriculum is relevant, and it does make students industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult sometimes, and the pass percentage is 42%.

A better option for engineering aspirants in Kerala.
Placements: GEC Bartonhill has a good placement cell which takes care of the student recruitments. Approximately 60% of the students get placed in good companies every year. Some of the students also opt for higher studies. The top recruiters include TCS, Infosys, IBM, Mahindra, Bosche, Keltron, etc. The salary packages range from 3 lakhs per annum to 7 Lacs per annum. Most students do internships for the sake of activity points. The top roles offered include IOT, R&D, designer, etc.
Infrastructure: Even though ours is a small college compared to others, we have a good infrastructure and great facilities for all academic purposes. Our college has a good Wi-Fi connection, labs and workshops for every department, well maintained library, etc. All classrooms are equipped with projectors and white boards. Some are provided with smart TVs. The college has hostel facility for girls only. We have a good canteen, medical and sanitation facilities. We do not have a good playground for sports and the gym facility is not under working condition.
Faculty: We are blessed with highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty for all courses. They are very helpful and caring. The course curriculum and syllabus is vast. And it is very tough to follow. The curriculum needs to be improved since it does not make the students industry ready. The semester exams are very hard. But most of us manage to clear exams without backlogs. The pass percentage is about 85-90%.
Other: GEC Bartonhill is one of the best engineering colleges in Kerala. Since I had a passion for engineering and good marks, I opted this college. Mechanical engineering is a core subject and we study lot of things about machines and properties of materials. The college is situated in the top of a hill with an ambient atmosphere. I love my college life and we enjoy it here very much. The students are very active and we have activities throughout the year. The annual college tech fest is called Aagneya and it is held in early March or April. The college is well connected to the city and has its own transportation facilities. We have provision for scholarships which the eligible students avail. We also have active student organisations like IEEE, ISTE, ASME, ICI, NSS, etc.
