Honest review of GEC Bilaspur .
Placements: I am a passout of the 2023 CSE batch and the situation was bad last year due to recession so none of the students were placed on campus. No companies visited our college and only a few were able to grab job offers via off-campus opportunities. The TNP cell of our college is trying their best to bring companies into our college but the placement scenario is regrading in our college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very old and requires maintenance. Wi-Fi is available but it is slow. I am a student of the CSE batch and I can tell you that lab resources in our college are lacking and hence we miss out on practical exposure. The canteen is available near our college but the food provided is either expired or spoiled. There is also a dispensary available near our college. Hostels are provided for girls as well as boys. The cost of a hostel is very affordable.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and have knowledge in their field of teaching. The course curriculum was recently changed to make it industry-relevant. The semester exams are very easy to crack. Even if a student studies 4-5 days prior to the exam date, they are still able to secure good marks.
Other: Kaushalam is the techno-cultural fest that is organized annually. It lasts 2–3 days and is very fun. Every teacher and student contribute to making it a successful event. Apart from that, there are also events organized by various clubs of our college on a frequent basis.

Really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: 100% campus placement is guaranteed for information technology.
Infrastructure: Hostel facility is available for both girls and boys. There are three hostels namely shaheed veernarayan, bilasa and panchseel. Scholarship is given to students who are enrolled in the hostel. Hostel is available category wise. Preference is given to brilliant students from SC, ST, OBC category.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and always provide career guidance. Course curriculum is relevant for the industry. It makes us industry ready. Semester exams are a little bit difficult and questions sometimes come from outside syllabus but solving previous year paper can help us the most.
Other: I had chosen IT branch because of growing demand in the market.

Infrastructure: In our college, facilities and infrastructure are not good. Many systems are lacking in the CSE branch. Sports facilities are not good.

Review of Government Engineering College Bilaspur.
Placements: About 70% of the students from our college got placed in the previous year 2020-2021 batch. Many of our seniors went for higher studies through GRE, GATE, CAT, etc. Some of them moved their focus toward civil services. Due to the covid situation, placements are not up to the mark but then also the highest salary package offered was around 5 LPA through on-campus, whereas the salary package offered is around 6 LPA - 7 LPA through off-campus placements. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Maintec, Vervotech, BALCO, etc. As in our branch, many students choose freelancing, and roles offered by them are android app developer, web developer, Python developer, etc.
Infrastructure: Here the college labs are good, currently, many new systems are installed. The campus is 24X7 Wi-Fi enabled with maximum speed. In the library, almost all the books which are in need are available. College also provides soft copies of many books online via some code. Classrooms are good enough and fulfils the necessary condition for studying like smart class, whiteboard and blackboard too. Hostels are good and the quality of the food is also good. A volleyball ground, TT table, and football ground are also available in the college.
Faculty: Teachers are so helpful, well qualified, and knowledgeable. Everyone says due to TEQUIP teaching quality was increased but this year due to some reasons this program is not in the college but I do not think that absence of this did not affect the studies. As the teachers are knowledgeable and teach their course very well. Some branches also have some regular government faculty members. Industrial training is also arranged by the college in a very well manner.
Other: From my 12th, I was looking towards technical software development fields, so I choose this course.

I am satisfied as teachers provide good guidance.
Placements: About 80% of the students got placed in the last year from the 2019-2020 batch. Other students went for higher studies through GATE GRE TOEFEL, etc. Some of them also went for civil services. The highest salary package offered is around 5-5.5 LPA through on-campus placements, and the salary package offered is 7-8 LPA through off-campus placements. The lowest salary package offered is around 3-3.5 LPA through on-campus placements. Top recruiting companies are BALCO, TCS, Maintec, Justdial, Orion, BSNL, Infanion, Vervotech, etc. Almost 100% of the students got an internship from our course in the above companies and also in other companies. Top roles offered in our course are software engineer, software developer, python developer, tester, web developer and many others.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available for 24x7 with the high-speed. Labs are good, and many purchased and high standard software are installed. Open-source software is also available. Classrooms are good and have all the necessary facilities like a smart class, whiteboard, blackboard and many others. Hostels are good, and the quality of food is also good. All facilities are available.
Faculty: In gecb Teachers are helpful, very good-qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality increased due to the TECHQUIP programme, which selects highly qualified and technical teachers. This course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready.

Many campus drives are organised by our college.
Placements: There is a bad placement cell in a college, but the training is good. The college provides good coaching for GATE and ESE. There are only placements for ET&T, CS, and IT branches. About 40% of the students do internships in Amazon. Many campus drives are organised by the college. The placement starts from the 7th semester onwards. Maximum students apply for GATE or UPSC exams
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very old but average. Wi-Fi is present but is very slow. Labs are average. The library is good. All the classrooms have smart screens and podiums. The college has a collection of 17596 books and has a study room for news, letter, magazines, and newspapers.
Faculty: All the teachers are M. tech qualified from NITs and IITs. Their teaching quality is the best. Teachers provide industrial training and other things. The syllabus coverage is always full. Exams are very tough. They are well experienced and knowledgeable.
Other: Annual sports and tech fest are organised every year. The tech fest called Kausalam is organised in March. Scholarships are provided to the students.

Overall, it is a good college, with good and helpful management.
Placements: Many campus drives are organised by the college. The placement cell is run by the students as well as faculty members. Students are eligible for placements from their 7th semester onwards. Maximum students apply for higher studies or prepare for GATE or UPSC exams. Hence, a less number of students apply for placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very old but average. Wi-Fi is present but is very slow. Labs are average. The library is good. There is a separate library for ST and SC students only. There are 5 hostels, 3 for boys and the rest for girls. Hostels are in very poor condition. Medical facilities are very poor, and it's better to visit the nearest clinic for an emergency.
Faculty: Chattisgarh Swami Vivekanand University's syllabus is followed in this college. The college is providing B.Tech degree from 2019, earlier it was BE. Hence, students have both technical and theoretical knowledge. Students are offered free trading, hence making them industry-ready.
Other: Annual sports and tech fests are organised every year. The tech fest called Kausalam is organised during the month of March. Scholarships are provided to the students.

I am satisfied because of the fee structure.
Placements: Most of the students from CS got placed with not so decent salary packages, but they got a job till the 4th year. Some students who were more focused on the non-technical background, like UPSC or state PSC, haven't sat in the drive. Only a few local companies visited for placements and offered jobs by filtering many students. Most of the students have applied for off-campus placements in various other companies and have succeeded in cracking companies like Doubtnut, Zimetrics, etc. Few students did an internship in their 2nd and 3rd year, but it was virtually and non-paid. I think only 1 or 2 students got paid internships. Our college takes students for an industrial visit after every even semester, and students explore real industry very closely. There is also a club named developers club, which is monitored by final year students. They also coordinate with other students to gain knowledge and help in placements for CS and IT students.
Infrastructure: The main building is very old, and I think our college was established in 1965. There is also a different building for CS, IT and ECE branches after 1st year. Infrastructure is not that good, but it is not that the worst. Classrooms are fitted with digital boards. There is a canteen within the campus, and we have 2 libraries. There is no lab for CS till now, but this year they are bringing some systems. Our college has a full-fledged Wi-Fi network on the campus but not in the hostel. There are 3 boys and a girls' hostels, but the conditions are not good. Still, they can be manageable. Only 1 party has tender to sell food in the mess and canteen, so there are no great varieties of food. You are compiled to eat whatever they give. Quality of food they offer is good, but sometimes you may get bored with the food.
Faculty: There are two types of faculty members in which one came from the state PSC exam, and the other came from the TEQIP programme. Faculty members who came from the latter programme are well-qualified and well-knowledgeable as compared to others. However, they are not permanent faculty members. Permanent faculty members are from the state PSC. The computer science branch doesn't have any permanent faculty member, and even they don't have a permanent HOD. Part-time faculty members keep on changing, and they intake freshers through a very selective procedure. Most of the teachers are cooperative, and they help in building projects and writing research papers. A few of them don't care what you do in academics.
Other: The only best part of this college is that it is funded by the state government, and the fee they charge is very nominal. Moreover, they target to give a scholarship to almost every student, and they don't charge for vocational training programs funded by the state government. Students here are very generous and keep on working on themselves. They don't expect much from college and are mostly doing things on their own. We have an annual sports fest in January and an annual cultural fest in March.
