GME course from HIMT is a pathway to a successful career.
Placements: About 80% of students are placed in various shipping companies like MMSI, M.Sc., BSM, Damico, and Zodiac, all selected as TME. At HIMT, if you have good academics and speak well, getting a placement is not difficult. Focus on the basics and have good communication skills. That is the shortcut for placement.
Infrastructure: In the hostel, you get a sharing room space. You get your own bed, cot, pillow, and all covers, one study table and chair each, and one cupboard space. You also get all toiletries, uniforms, and books on campus. The fees are inclusive of all this. Mess is also provided, where you get meals three times a day and coffee and tea twice a day.
Faculty: The curriculum focuses more on Marine Engineering components with practical aspects and hands-on experience. We also get an immersive learning experience through the virtual reality modules developed in-house at HIMT by the Chief Engineers and Master Mariners. Faculty members are the best in terms of core job experience and are seasoned teachers who understand our depth and teach effectively.
Other: Campus life is more discipline-oriented to prepare us for the discipline required in offices onboard ships. We actually love being in uniform and being respected whenever we go out for shore leaves.

Highly recommended college for GME in India.
Placements: I am very happy to complete my Graduate Marine Engineering course at HIMT and get placed in MMSI Shipping. Most of my friends get placed in reputed shipping companies like MMSI, Synergy, Damico, M.Sc., and BSM. All are selected for the post of TME, and the remaining who are not yet placed are lined up for interviews.
Infrastructure: We have various labs like the Basic Skills Workshop, where we do hot works, welding and gas cutting, fitting, plumbing, lathe, etc. We have an Auxiliary Machines Workshop with equipment like pumps, valves, air compressors, heat exchangers, purifiers, pistons, lines, crankshafts, etc. We also have a fully equipped Electrical Lab, an operational ship on campus, and a VR lab.
Faculty: Teachers have immense experience at sea, and they share with us the challenges and experiences they face at sea. They also mentor us so that we are fit for work at sea. The course curriculum is equally balanced between theory and practical, with more hands-on training experience.
Other: The campus is always active with events. Shipping companies and DGS officials frequently visit the campus.

This college is okay to survive in, but it's not a very good option.
Placements: Students in my batch were sent for their interview to one of the companies, but the company hasn't responded to them yet. The top companies like M.Sc. Fleet, Demico, Wallem come every year to pick their candidates. Almost 98% of students get selected in M.Sc. Fleet, Demico, Dockendale, Wallem, and many more as cadets.
Infrastructure: The hostel is quite well-maintained. Washrooms are cleaned every day, and cleanliness is maintained, which is quite impressive. There is a small ground for playing football, and good courts for volleyball and badminton. The mess is also quite well.
Faculty: Teachers here are all good and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality is good. Talking about semester exams, this college provides better practice and helps us prepare for the final IMU exams. 50% is the minimum marks to pass this DNS course. The academic block is quite small but fine.

I get placed in MMSI through HIMT after completing GME.
Placements: I do my Graduate Marine Engineering course from HIMT. I get placed in MMSI Shipping. I get an offer of $750 per month initially, and thereafter, upon completing COC exams, I will be earning around $2800 per month. In my batch, students are placed in Synergy, BSM, Zodiac, Damico Ship, and M.Sc. All get the role of TME, as that is where we start our career in the merchant navy.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are excellent. We have a world-class sports complex including a basketball court, football turf, cricket turf, pickleball courts, swimming pool, laundry service, separate hostels for boys and girls, a ship on campus, state-of-the-art virtual reality labs, and many more. The hostel can accommodate around 800 cadets.
Faculty: Semester exams are to the point, covering whatever is taught in class, and hence are not very difficult. They are a mix of subjective and objective questions. Our course curriculum has equal weightage for theory and practical hands-on experience. All our faculty members are master mariners and chief engineers who make us fit for the sea.
Other: I chose this course because it has good demand these days. HIMT has excellent placement records for the past few years in India. They also have sponsorship programs with many shipping companies.

Highly recommended college for B.Tech Marine Engineering.
Placements: 100% of our batch students got placed by God's grace. We were all placed in the 3rd year of B.Tech marine engineering course, special thanks to our placement cell run by our CEO sir and principal sir. I got selected by Synergy, and my friends are placed at MOL, M.Sc. Synergy and VR Maritime.
Infrastructure: We have a ship on campus, where we get to see and operate all the live machinery that is available on board a ship. We also have a state-of-the-art facility, which is our virtual reality lab, where we have fully immersive ship visits. Apart from this, we have a swimming pool, sports turf and complex, air-conditioned classrooms, good hostels, etc.
Faculty: All our teachers are friendly, and they know what is to be taught to us and how to teach us. They also mentor us. We have a strong, healthy relationship with all our faculty members, they make the complex systems and concepts simpler. Semester exams are easy if we focus on the previous year's question papers.
Other: HIMT College is the leading institute in maritime training, and they offer what they promise. When we joined, they said they don't guarantee any placements but will provide placement opportunities, and today we are all placed, really grateful and thankful to HIMT.

I got placed in Synergy, and my friends got selected for M.Sc. Synergy, MOL, VR Maritime. We are the first batch to get all placed in the 3rd year.
Infrastructure: We have about 14 acres of greenery-filled campus with all the advanced facilities like dedicated hostel blocks for girls and boys, swimming pool facilities, gym, sports turf for football and cricket, virtual reality labs, smart classrooms with AC, ship in campus and many more.
Faculty: Teachers were very helpful, they made us feel at home, they are all highly qualified and mariners with vast experience. IMU Chennai FAQs

Q:   Is MBA at IMU Chennai better than IMU Navi Mumbai?
A:

According to the information provided, the MBA programs in International Transportation and Logistics Management are offered by IMU Chennai and IMU Navi Mumbai. Common Entrance Tests (CETs) are administered by IMU, the only accredited institution in India providing maritime education, for variety of degrees, including MBAs. The university offers scholarships, job placement assistance, and state-of-the-art facilities on its Chennai campus. Admissions are determined by the CET. However, the search results that were supplied do not easily provide particular information about how well the MBA programs at IMU Chennai and IMU Navi Mumbai compare. Consult official university resources, talk to current or former students, or get in touch with academic counselors at both campuses for thorough comparison. [/3]

Q:   What is the latest cutoff information for B.Tech at IMUC?
A:

IMUC's most recent cutoff information for B.Tech students is expected to be made public after the announcement of the IMUC CET results, which usually happens in June. The cutoff scores for Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering are projected to be approximately 179, 175, 170, and 168 for General/EWS/OBC candidates, based on past years' trends. The cutoff points for SC, ST, and PWD applicants are anticipated to be approximately 15% lower than those for General, EWS, and OBC candidates. IMUC B.Tech candidates should start preparing for the IMUC CET as soon as possible. On the IMUC website, you can easily find the syllabus for the IMUC CET in addition to a number of practice exams and past years' question papers. It's also advised to sign up for coaching sessions at a respectable institution.

Q:   Which entrance exam scores are accepted by IMUC for admission?
A:

Scores from a variety of entrance tests are accepted by the Indian Maritime University (IMU) for admission to its undergraduate and graduate programs. These include IMUC CET, JEE Main, LEET, and IMU-PGCET for undergraduate degrees. These include GATE and IMU-PGCAT for postgraduate degrees. IMUC may take into account extracurricular activities, employment history, and academic standing in addition to entrance exam results. It is recommended that applicants visit the IMU website to get up-to-date details on approved entrance examinations and prerequisites. IMUC is a public university in India that provides instruction and training in marine subjects. The Indian government's Ministry of Shipping founded the university in 2008. Six constituent institutions of IMU are dispersed throughout India. The university provides marine studies undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs.

Q:   Can I get admission in IMUC for B.Tech with 60% in Class 12th?
A:

IMUC admits B.Tech students with a class 12 GPA of 60%, hence the answer is yes. It is noteworthy, therefore, that the minimum scores required for admission to the B.Tech programs at IMUC differ based on the particular course and the candidate's level. The admission committee will take your performance on the IMUC CET entrance exam into account in addition to your Class 12th percentage. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are the two papers that make up the IMUC B.Tech admission exam. Paper 1 is meant to evaluate your understanding of mathematics, physics, and chemistry; Paper 2 is meant to evaluate your engineering and problem-solving skills. Understanding the material in its entirety, practicing answering previous year's question papers, and taking mock exams to assess your progress are all crucial components of an efficient preparation strategy for the IMUC B.Tech entrance exam. If you want to improve your preparation, you should also think about taking coaching to do well in the entrance exam.

Q:   Can I get B.Tech at IMUC with a 75 percentile in JEE Mains?
A:

Yes, if you score in the 75 percentile in the JEE Mains, you may be able to go into IMUC. The particular B.Tech program, category, results on other tests, total rank, and academic record are some of the variables that affect admission possibilities. Even though a score in the 75 percentile is typically considered competitive, entrance to the most selective programs may not be assured with this score. Practicing for more entrance examinations, keeping up a stellar academic record, showcasing extracurricular activities, crafting a good personal statement, and staying current with admission requirements are all ways to improve your chances. You can improve your chances of being admitted to IMUC by being well-prepared and using strategic application.

Q:   Which entrance exam scores does IMUC accept for admission to MBA?
A:

Admission to the MBA programme at Indian Maritime University (IMUC) is based on the results of a number of entrance exams. The management skills and endurance of applicants to withstand the demands of the MBA programme are evaluated by these tests. The IMUC accepts test results from the TANCET, CAT, MAT, CMAT, and CUET PG exams. The results of other pertinent entrance tests, such as the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions), may also be taken into account by IMUC in addition to these. Every year there may be changes to the weighting pattern and specific requirements for admission, so before applying, make sure you are aware of the most recent information.

Q:   What is the selection process for B.Tech and what is the minimum JEE score required?
A:

The admissions process for the B.Tech programs at Indian Maritime University (IMU) is clearly established. IMUC CET, JEE Main, or LEET are the application methods available to candidates. Those who make the shortlist will be invited for counseling, where they can select the IMU campus and B.Tech programme of their choice, based on their exam results. The minimum JEE score required for a B.Tech at IMUC varies based on the candidate's category; it is generally 80% for General Category, 75% for OBC, 65% for SC, 60% for ST, and 75% for EWS.  The cut-off marks can vary every year so the candidates should frequently visit and check for the JEE score for admission every year.

Q:   Is IMU CET compulsory to get admission into BSc course?
A:

Yes, IMU CET is compulsory to get admission into BSc courses at IMU Chennai. All six campuses of the Indian Maritime University (IMU) accept the scores of the IMU CET for admission to BSc.
